The Official Beyerdynamic T1 Impressions and Discussion Thread

I found the LCD 3 treble  a bit dark / muffled. Also T1 sound stage is better. My fav sound signature is one with a neutral (less warmer) tilt with extended treble. (HD 800 / T1 / TH 900 / HE 6 / LCD XC).

As a T1 owner who has often pondered over buying the LCD 2 or HD800 these sort of posts are very good for my wallet.

I was thinking of getting one of the Audeze phones myself. But after auditioning LCD-2 multiple times I decided though I enjoy listening with LCD-2, T1 is a better phone for most genres I listen with. LCD-2 is either great or totally bad depending on which music is playing. T1 on the other hand can handle anything pretty well.

To be honest, I like the tuning of Beyer phones in general. Even their dirt cheap DT235 sounds better to me than some other phones more than 3 times it's price. Now I'm going to try and see how their DT250 compares. Just waiting deliver from Amazon.

So!

Has anybody had the time to contrast and compare the T1 and the OPPO PM-1?

I am looking for a different, yet high-resolution sound for those days where I just crave something different, and being able to run it off a low power amp would be a nice bonus. Perhaps a suitable replacement for my Denon AH-D600 set?

I am also not a big fan of the HD 650, people who like HD 650 should give LCD 2/3 a try, I think they will like them. IMHO.

I don't like the HD650, but I like the LCD-2. That's the trio I'm going for, HD800/T1/LCD-2.

Have you heard TH 900 ?

Nope. I want to, but I don't expect to like it very much judging by its frequency response (might have too much bass for me).

Clean power is clear power regardless how much is the max output power. You can have a 5W power supply but still is dirty even if it only supplies sub 500mW of power.

It's not true more power is clean power. And why would you need 1W for T1?

completely disagree... the reason i say this is rated power is seldom the 'clean' power rating. unless a manufacturer is being very conservative with their rating chances are it delivers a fraction of what it is rated cleanly.

I was thinking of going for something like that, but just can't warm to the HD800s. I'm really happy with my T1 / LCD-2 combo though.

I really like the TH-900, but I can't imagine owning both them and the T1s - too similar to my ears and I prefer the T1's more neutral bass presentation and the higher impedance which makes the T1 much easier to pair with a wide range of amps (assuming sufficient power). I've found the TH-900s can sound a bit funky with higher output impedance and actually seem to work better with lower power devices which would be great for portable systems, but actually limits desktop options in my experience. Beautiful looking and sounding cans though when paired with the right gear.

Thanks :)
I became quite fond of current Beyerdynamic gear in the last year or so... really love their clear presentation, not abusing effects to beef up sound but staying true to the recording without over-analyzing and by that destroying the fun. Others have a different take on that and may find them overly analytic (which I think of the HD800 btw)... But to my preferences the T1 is next to perfect when driven by either the Phonitor 2 or the A2.

I recently heard the Pandora IV and VI at High End in Munich. Their dimensions looked almost identical, but somehow the IV fit my ears much better (the pads on the VI were not deep enough). Both had quite some low end in a fun way although a bit too soft, not controlled enough, and more than I can enjoy for a longer listening session. I don't use my M-100 at home either...

The maybe true in most cases. But 5W amp for T1? It's more like "throwing a kitchen sink" approach to me.
