Gotten the r3 as I will be travelling for the next 2 months and wanna reduce the bulk of a phone with the nx4. And also cause my modded dx50 is already old.

For those using balanced out, do you guys hear big sonic differences compared with the single out? As I am on the fence on spending a fair bit of money on a 2.5mm cable (already did with 3.5mm). The single out drives my iems easily and I m on volume mostly for my iems

I do hear quite a bit of difference with a balanced cable. I bought a fiio replacement cable for around 16 euro from brightaudio store and a nicehck 8 core upgrade cable for around 8 euro from nicehck audio store (both on aliexpress). Both work fine.

I bought Seed IEMS as they are balanced and I have them, they fatigue my ears ennless than 30 minutes. Still using my ER4PTs and V-Moda Bluetooth aptx for airplane

I’ve been playing catch-up today on this thread and I found the -13 playback error stuff interesting.
I’ve been using 3.1 for a while, even after the folks at HiBy support sent me a link to the 3.3 slash version after they put it on one drive. I’ve been using aptx with no problems. I’d never seen the -13 error at all... until after I read about it that is.
I turned on my r3 and noticed that it showed the S at the top. I went into the settings and aptx was selected. When I tried to play a song, I got the -13. First time ever.
I went to the next song. Same thing.
Next song. S changed to A and song played.

I’m going to stop reading this thread.

Just gotten the fiio cable to try. It seems that soundstage seems to be wider and also treble extension are improved. Guess I'll get the same cable that I custom made in 2.5 to make a comparison

It is more like, i am kind of bass head and it is game changer for me if dap would cut off fr under 80Hz.
Hi guys, it's been awhile.

Curious about this claim that the bass rolls off I did some measurements of the R3, both unloaded, and loaded down with a 16ohm load (for the purposes of this test, lower impedance means a heavier load, more likely to cause droop in the bass for any capacitor-coupled output stage):

I think we can all agree that there's no appreciable sag under 80Hz (or under 20Hz for that matter) whether the output is loaded or not.

Is anybody having problems with their recently added playlist not working on R3?
I can answer this one for you: yes...

How are you loading up your new music? Any operating details you think may be related to the problem?

Hey guys, still no update on spotify? I want spotify on it. It would be an instant but if this one does. This is because it will be a perfect pair with my xcan size wise!

Sorry, I don't think we'll ever see Spotify on a non-Android device, except as something to cast Spotify to. :frowning2:

That's so unfortunate! Hiby r5 is not xcan form factor, it will not look good as a stack and not easy go carry around.

What dap that has balance output+r3 form factor+streaming apps? Any recommendations?
