The most involving set-up/headphones

Master & Commander OST, Agalloch, Blue Man Group, and Celtic Woman are making me glad I bought the LCD-2.  And that's with no burn-in.

Have other headphones as well ; LCD-2, PS1000, GS1000i & HD800,  BUT  IMO the RS1i are truly special.

IME it has been the better source & recording that has influenced the listening experience moreso, rather than the headphone or amp. Am I alone?

Grado HP2, which is surprising considering how neutral they are, I know. But they are the only headphones that I heard that get out the way better than any other and thus I can just enjoy the music

Although I've owned some "euphoric" headphones, none of them ever came close. Sennheiser HD600/Equinox cable and Grado RS1 would probably be the distant 2nd and 3rd. I haven't heard most headphones above the $1,000 range though, but I'm sure the HP2's would probably hold their own

I agree that the source/transport is going to have the biggest impact. The amp really can come into play when tubes are involved. They can really have an impact both positive or negative on the end result.

Yeah I'd go with that. We all have our favorite recordings to test our new equipment out. Plus the start of the chain has to be important.

Also it's so hard to find a set up that cators for more ecclectic tastes. Fair enough if you are solely into rock for e.g, but if you want a system to sound good with classical, jazz and rock.... I've got 2 rigs going at the moment because I don't want to disturb my 650's classical music set up.

Luckily it only took a little dot I+  to sort out my Jazz/rock Grado flings!
