IME it has been the better source & recording that has influenced the listening experience moreso, rather than the headphone or amp. Am I alone?

For me the most involving systems all have had some form of an analog front end. A tape project hooked up to stats(diy amp with jades), tape reel hooked up to dynamics(bottlehead amp and variety of cans), and a vinyl rig hooked up to a liquid fire (ss amp). That is why I say the source/transport is the most important. It didnt matter what was hooked up to these great frontends, they all were the most involving systems. Were they best in clarity, detail, or transparency? No, but they were most involving to listen to.
