X1600 is the same as x1000 so not much of an upgrade.

I've got a Hiby R3 Pro (not saber). I'm listening single-ended to Truthear Hexa or Koss Porta Pro/KSC75. So, the iems/headphones are not demanding to drive. I'm listening to local files only, not streaming. With new entries from Hiby, Shanling, Fiio, etc, is there any reason to upgrade for sound quality or UI? Especially helpful would be people who've used the Hiby R3 Pro and upgraded (or didn't!). Thanks!

I personally prefer the OG R3 Pro (Cirrus Logic) over the newer models. I do wish the firmware would get more updates though. I have the R3 Pro 2022 and the R3II (not 2025)...

Being a Head-Fier is enough of a reason to upgrade, isn’t it?

I have a R3- Pro Saber somewhere, and a R3-II. To me, the PEQ feature, in addition to MSEB, was the most significant upgrade. I kinda of lost track, but I think PEQ is not available on your R3 ???

Why a significant upgrad? With PEQ you could “explore around” your Hexa and KSC75, and determine what could be the real, valuable, upgrade: new IEMs and/or headphones

Practically from what I read between the lines it clearly says "Anyone who has the R3 PRO or the R3 PRO Saber should hold on to them because there is no reason to replace them with the new R3s" Did I read that correctly?

I received my HiBy R3 II 2025 version today and I'm wondering if my experience is as expected. I upgraded the firmware to the most recent version (v1.1) so I could have the dark mode option. After loading my music, I noticed that the volume only goes to 40 (with a max of 40) and the screen has a bit of a green tint. I also noticed a bit of light bleeding into the screen on the bottom just to mid-left - so perhaps the screen is damaged. I've ordered a replacement in the event my screen is not right - but what I'm really concerned about is the volume. When listening with my IEMs, I had to get the volume to 90%+ (around 35) for normal listening. On my original, playback at around 50% was plenty loud enough (around 50).

My original HiBy R3 II allows the volume to go to 100 and it doesn't have the green tinted screen.

Am I missing something or did I just get a dud?

just checked some review before I got here. go to the about screen and touch the version nr. 5 times I guess or maybe more to get the developer options like in android. then you can turn off the volume lock. the color of the screen is a topic under reviews as well.

do you use tidal with the device? please share your experience. unfortunately there's not that much information on the user experience with streaming or if you can download albums or not.

I went from the R3 Pro to Shanling m1s, and I like it much better. It's leagues above in sound quality, and there are no issues with the UI, and you only log in to your Tidal account once, and it stays logged in forever.
