The Fiio X5 Thread
Nov 4, 2013 at 7:50 AM Post #1,606 of 19,652
I'd just like to thank JamesFiiO for participating in a thread like this. There will be lots of odd posts and projections to address. Nice to keep us in the loop. I remember when the 1st X3 (if that's what it was was called) thread started and it was put on hold. That you would continue to participate in preproduction threads is commendable. I hope you do have something before years end so we don't need to see that naked bottom.

yes, that is the secret we can sold out so many X3 around the world. remember that the game(war) just starts.

Dear James,

Please be my santa and let Fiio X5 be the gift XD, I hope it can burn the competitor like AK100, the SQ at least can be the DX100 or near AK120 , though i really don't mind to spend more than 600-700$ for your consumer's oriented product XD, and one feature i'll desperately ask is normalization feature as the neutron player in android, it really makes my s3 higher quality (it says for wolfson / other higher end dac can set dc offset and gain automatically) and save the battery's power

it is my hand and I am not a tall guy. and you can see I have not problem hold it on my hand. also it is small than my Galaxy Note if you take some time to compare the size.

Don't worry, I'm gonna buy the X3 on Xmas (looking for a bargain now)

But seriously, is it necessary to make it so big? This is not a smartphone but a player after all, it does not consume so much energy. Changing Wolfson to Texas Inst. and enlarging the screen and the battery capacity as well shouldn't expand it so much. Imagine that average Joe has smartphone in his/her pocket and average Joe suppose to shove another player-smartphone-like in the pocket.  I understand expanding trend in smartphones but I don't get why do we need it in an (audiophile) audio players...

the trend is more and more smartphone follow Apple used build in battery but not replaceable battery, of course, some brands will like to provide DAPs with replaceable battery, so, you need to choose but you can't get both.

I'm afraid the Apple trend is to control everything and "help" user to buy a new apple thing because the battery is dead. But on the other hand I know it's cheaper and more profitable for a manufacturer.

BTW, is it plastic or aluminium?

Would like to as if the wheel actually rotates or just detects motion of the finger? Sorry if this was discussed before.

Anyway, I'm hoping for a neutral and powerful DAP. :)

Will it be sansa like control wheel or something else?

Guys, if you use the 'search this thread' option, you can easily find the answer:

Which model of DT series you mentioning? I think it should be able to drive the 32/80/250 ohm version eh

ok. but we not sure of driving planars/ODs though. E12 had it's nice footprint on some, read in some reviews of E12 here and there...nevermind who cares if it's a portable as most of us pair X5 with (C)IEMs...it matters only while using indoor, such huge earcups!.

hope you guys can understand we can't make everyone happy, some need more power and some need replaceable battery and some need smaller size. anyway, the hardware has been decided and the trial production are done.

we are waiting the new UE/UI for X5 and so far everthing goes smooth.

True....OR you could just answer the question (again)

Which I did do.

I don't mind if people make an effort to do a quick search, and ask if they have been unsuccessful, but there is a tendency to just be lazy and it makes for a thread that just endlessly repeats itself. This is precisely why there is a thread-search function.

Anyway, enough of that.

Moving on...
