Off-topic but if anyone is interested, MassDrop has a drop on the Shure 846.  It's at $779 with a week to go.  Pretty good price.

Not a bad price.....They are nice iem's. Not my sound signature it is why I don't have them anymore. I paid 799.00 for mine.

Just checked Simon and Garfunkel's "Live At Central Park" album, FW 2.4, lossless 16/44.1 FLAC (originally 24/96 transcoded to redbook).  Used both folder view and also via tags.  No issues with gapless and it is completley seamless.

You guys having issues:
  1. Are you sure your actual recording is gapless?
  2. Do you have gapless option turned on?
  3. You haven't got something like random turned on?

Gapless definitely working without fault on this X5.

Absolutely sure on all counts.

OK - next question would be to see if you can test your gapless album on someone else's X5.  Would suggest either someone else local to you, or upload the album to a dropbox account, and get someone from here to test it on their X5.

That way you can eliminate the album being at fault.

If the album plays faultlessly on another X5 - then it's your DAP, and you can then start talking to Fiio.

Ok, maybe when I get home later.
The flac of the same album, before AAC encoding, is gapless on the X5.
The AAC encode is gapless on Android (gonemad) and iPod classic.
There is a longer gap if you disable gapless playback on the X5, but there's a gap either way.
Not really possible that the files are at fault really as far as I can see.

OK - sorry  - I missed that part.  I can easily try an aac gapless file on my X5.  Give me half an hour.  I'll get back to you.

Just checked - my S&G live album seems pretty seamless from track to track - but harder to discern because it's live and there is applause between tracks.

Playing Floyd now - and with these albums there is the very slightest gap - but it's really only a microsecond, and not really annoying at all (almost like a slight flutter) with "The Wall" - but on the FLAC version (same master - I transcoded it myself) there is no flutter there at all.

So yep - I confirm, you might have found a small bug with aac lossless (mine are 256aac files) and gapless playback.

Any way to get rid of the display delay on songs? It's inconvieniant but I can deal. I use FLAC only, either 16 or 24.

It was discussed earlier in the thread that if you use cover.jpg, folder.jpg etc. instead of embedded art it will reduce the delay. I guess it only has to be loaded once per album rather than for each track, but otherwise no. It is designed to play asap and then load the art.

e12a adds musicality, is more transparent, adds soundstage, it combines very very nice with x5. i only tested with ie800 and it made ie800 so much better. e12a and e12 have very different sounds!
e12a was like making everything much much better, more alive..

Question about the x5 I have 9000 songs. is scrolling through songs fast especially than the X1? Like a acceleration

no. exactly the opposite.

but you have to have some sort of ordering, by bands or something. i can really live with the wheel, i had holden an x1 in hand, and x5 is similar in my experience.

you cannot go through more than a few songs in a folder without loosing it. most of times i have only favorites songs from a band, or albums. everything in generas folders, for faster access. for me it works amazingly fast, sound is a bliss!

No acceleration.  Not like an iPod where you can quickly get through it.  Many people use folders to make it easier to navigate, using alpha naming: A-G, H-P, Q-Z, for instance, and then populating the folders accordingly.
