Yeah totally agree that and the lock screen settings, I have asked for more options, why not providing a selection menu to pick your options, as long as there is one function that allows you to be back to normal
Operation that would be cool.

YES! Much like Settings options on a smartphone.

I understand FiiO is small comparatively and does not have the coding manpower of a smartphone company but that's the direction they should go. Still love the device, and bang for buck portability.

I know we talked about Meenova mini otg reader before, but here is something similar for half the price.  Only $7 shipped, very small footprint, supports microSD, microSDHC, and microSDXC.  I tested it with my 128GB Sandisk, works good. Has OTG support so plugs right into any smartphone which supports OTG connection, and obviously recognized by X5 without a problem.  When plugged in, only extends by about 26mm.  Also comes with micro-usb to usb adapter to connect directly to your computer.  Cool little gadget with a nice light glow when plugged in.

Here are a few picks I took:

I hadn't seen this one. I picked up a couple of the Meenova's.

The Meenova only extends ~15mm from the base of the X5 & the microSD is completely enclosed in the reader. The concern I would have with yours is the card potentially getting bumped & dislodged.

You definitely can't beat the price though.

Good point.  Well, I actually got this mini OTG reader primarily for use with our Galaxy phones at home.  S5 has wide enough opening to work with a case

I was afraid Meenova going to be too wide for it (not a problem with X5 since case is thin and stretchable).  I usually load it up with movies to watch on the phone.  As a bonus, it works with X5 and I'm pretty happy with it.  Personally, I don't even have enough music files to fill up 128GB microSD card lol!!!, but since I'm a review junky - wanted to share with you guys.  And for $7 it's a steal.

Another good deal here for anyone interested:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1034096-REG/sandisk_sdsdqui_128g_a46_128gb_ultra_micro_sdxc.html

1 day only, B&H has Sandisk 128 GB cards for $100 w/ Free Shipping. Amazingly these haven't sold out yet, now you can get up to 384 GB of storage to go on your X5 (w/ the Meenova) for only $300, not too bad.

Jumped on this in a hurry. I didn't know they shipped to Canada and even with shipping, taxes and duties it's still only $131 and change. The price plus the fact you can't get these locally in Canada yet, well, it was a no brainier!

Thanks! :D

I wouldn't mind the ability to customize the FW like I've done with GPS's, dashcams, iPhones/androids. Make it an open source community, as long as it's not brickable and flashing back to stock is easy.

I have created two custom firmwares which alter the images of the player,
while CH23 has modded the firmware for functionality like reversing the scroll wheel direction.
all are available here.

Actually tiger direct had 256gb PNY brand cards on sale for ~$110. Add in a couple sd to microsd adapter ~$7.00, and you get 512gb for less than $250. That's not even counting otg (add another $100 for a 256gb usb key). Not the prettiest solution, but the cheapest way to get s-loads of memory

I'm using Class 10 Gskill 64GBx2 I bought from newegg.ca for $30 each. That Sandisk is double the price per GB!
I'm not sure I'd be comfortable paying an extra $131 convenience fee for having 128x2 vs 64x4.
That's also a risk failure of 120GB+ at once. Wouldn't it be better rotating 64's?

That is a decent price at the moment. I still can't believe they're not selling them locally (I did see one listed on the headphoneshop website, but it's sold, and also $200). I'm still going to risk waiting until x-mas time. I'm hoping others (kingston, patriot, samsung) will have theirs for sale by then, probably much cheaper - sandisk always seems comparatively over priced

I think that Sandisk's 64GB mSDs have the best cost-risk-benefit equation right now. Music you seldom listen to can be stored in their own mSD, leaving the 2 main ones with the music you actually want to have in your player all the time. 128GB of music, even in FLAC, is a lot of music.
Besides, the 5800 file limit of the current X5 firmware can/will cause usability issues with the 128GB mSDs.
