The Fiio X3 Thread.

I know this is head-fi and therefore I understand that people like to tinker with combinations of things to try and extract maximum performance from their purchases, but really, I think the sound quality and amp stage in the X3 will be adequate for pretty much most people. I am fairly fussy myself, and the X3 on its own will certainly do for me as an everyday, portable player.

For those of you who haven't even got the X3 yet and are looking at adding amps to it, can I suggest you just try it with your headphones and see what it's like, first. I think many of you will find it more than adequate.

It is an absolute delight paired with the Vsonic GR07 and the Cosmic Ears HY3. It is considerably less of a delight paired with my Cosmic Ears reshelled TF10's, where it gives boomy mid-bass. Granted, the TF10's are not the most subtle of IEM's in the first place however

to everyone who have problem about X3, please report the detail information to us and send email to support@fiio.com.cn as below

1, firmware version? you can check it in the system settings .

2, what kind of music format ? you can check the music format by foobar, make sure it is not 32Bit or 312K sample rate or not DTS/Dolby format or any APE in Extra high, Insane , and high in 192/24.

3, What kind of TF card and the capacity and how many sond tracks in there ? what format is the TF card, exfat? fat32 ? NTFS? please make sure the TF card should formated to FAT32

about the question of Annen11, there may have some possibilities:

1, the music is storaged in the TF card and the speed is too slow , less than class6.

2, there are some sound tracks which is hard to played by X3, maybe you can help us find out which cause the freezes.

3, the music library is set to auto updating and X3 take time to updating the music library.

4, the others reason.

anyway, very few users reporte this issues and most is cause by some music .

Hey James, any plans to include support for playlist files like m3u in future firmware upgrades?

Any DAPs as sample so we can study how it work first . I am not sure whether it will cause a lots of new bugs, and the most important thing to us is make the current fimware more stable and easy to use. after that, we will try to add more features in X3.

Hello Forum!
I am a new user here, and i am not sure if it is the best idea to ask this in the general fiio x3 thread, but anyway..

so far i had the cowon x5l, after it died i used a sansa clip+ with shure se215, and now i am ready to invest in new and better gear.

fiio x3 sounds perfect, but the question of in ear headphones comes up.

i liked the fit of the se215,  but i am not listening so much to electronic music atm, as i think the se215 is ok for techno and stuff, its not really good sound.

now i am again more into classic, piano music, jazz (!) and accoustic stuff, a big soundstage and liveliness in mid and hightones is what i am looking for. bass too, but its not the focus.

are the shure se425 a good match for the x3?
i imagine they sound more "alive" than the little brother.
any other good ideas for me?

thanks in advance,
christoph

Just got my X3, very pleased so far.

Is there a consensus about which 64GB micro SD works without problems? I am considering
Samsung Micro SDXC
SanDisk Ultra Micro SDXC
Transcend TS64GUSDU1 MicroSDHC Class10 U1

I know I will have to format them as FAT32

I would use artist/album folder structure, and play gapless album.

Sorry if this has been been already discussed, but reading 265 pages would be a daunting task...

Are there actually any 64gig micro sd card which is class 4 or 6 out there?

The X3 just arrived!

Perfect weight, as i dislike lightweight apparatus.

I'm now updating the external storage.

While writing this it has just finished, and seems to read everything. (You are talking about "browse files", right?)

Most files are AAC(ALAC or m4a), a few MP3's.
Root/artist/album/songs ordered.
64GB sandisk microSD, FAT32 converted with the verbatim program mentioned earlier.

Oh man am i happy with it.

Appendix:

SD card is filled completely ( 58.9 GB)
as expected tags aren't read, so all files are listed under "unknown album" under Category except for the mp3 files, which are ID3 tagged.

James, according to someone i talked to(the creator of IDTE ID3 tag editor) mp4 files use "MP4-ATOMS" instead of ID3 tags. So that is why it won't read them.

And i would like to thank you for your patience, help, and listening to us! You made a great product!
