The Fiio X3 Thread.

Hi all,

I just got a new X3 for a friend and am about to start setting it up for him.

Where can I find a simple tutorial for basically pulling it out of the box, getting the right device driver, upgrading the firmware, formatting an SD card and putting songs from my iPod onto a flash drive and getting it up and running?

I have both a Macbook Pro with Itunes and all of my AAC files and a number of various Windows machines around.

I'm not particularly worried about playlists or anything special but just want it to work OK for him once I'm done.

Thanks,

Tom

Not a good return policy there? Well glad you got a replacement. The X3 seems to me like a very well made device so hopefully your replacement will be fine. I've had mine for a year and no problems with it so far.
If only it were like that here in the Philippines. I did get a replacement tonight, pretty happy just hope it doesn't happen again!

I wish Fiio or someone else made a TPU case for the X3. The silicone is a bit flimsy and I've accidentally torn one taking it off. It collects alot of dust too. TPU rubber is nice and durable and smooth but I haven't seen a case made of that material for the X3.

Thanks for another great release.
How soon can we expect the stacking kit for the X3?

Help me start it up, please

Hi!

In the next hour I will take delivery of my first digital player - X3! And SanDisk Ultra 64 microSDXC.

Now, what do I need to do?

Format the card in the Fiio, then put it in card reader, stick it into computer, transfer some music, put card back to Fiio and off I go? I will mess with firmware latter.
THX!

You may need to update the X3's library index after you transfer your music.

You find the function directly under "System Settings".

@skalkman Thanks for the tip, that was useful, I did see my music, but nothing in folder view. That sorted it.
Otherwise I hand no porblems, everything went just as I had imagined.

@EtS13 Oh, I didn't know the 3.24 was out already. I will sort the firmware thing in a week I guess, as gapless is very important to me.

I did a very quick and brief test with X3 solo and connected to Schiit Vali and I didn't notice any considerable difference. I will not be able to make more comparisons, because, as per coincendence I have a buyer for Vali first thing in the morning.

When I hooked X3 to my hi-fi it wasn't too shabby at all. A little veiled and dark sounding. I hope that imporoves with time.

And it's weird, I don't even own ANY touch screen device - but always want to use X3's screen for navigation. IDK how you guys manage the lack of touch screen.

To some extent, it depends on which op amp you are using.  But changing the sound signature for a few bucks is of course is one of the great funs of the cmoy.

I like the JRC4556 best among of what I tried.  With it, I'd say the X3+cmoy combo sounds more lush, full and effortless than the X3 alone.

Hey Walfredo. Just received my Cmoybb, sounding good so far, can't wait for the 50 hour mark. The cheap little cable i use to connect the two is removing some information though (if that makes sense) what do you use to connect the two?
