it is full metal back, why do you think it is plastic with aluminium coating ? it feel cool when you touch it.

To be honest, I don't know much about materials, coatings and metals.

I usually can't tell if something is plastic coated onto metal or if it's actually full plastic.

It's hard to tell many times what material is what.

But I guess you are right. It is cold when you touch it

X3 vs Miniplayer A/B testing.  Unsurprisingly, the winner is X3.

I guess some people (not those who have been using a portable amp) do concern about the portability of X3.
But considering that X3 has the coaxical out, line out, TF card slot, and most importantly a powerful amp, I think this size and weight are justifiable.

But it's always better to be thinner and lighter for a portable gadget.

Well, it works on one then it will works on all. I tested on a FireStone Audio Fubar HD as well, but nothing special to report.

The coaxial output of X3 works on my AV amp. But if you want to have this setup, remember to change the input mode to digital (rather than Auto), and cancel the HDMI input. I committed this mistake and thought it was the problem of X3.

It is great to have a 24bit digital source. It will be much easier for me to play music with speakers.
I guess lots of people who have hi-fi are interested in/have been finding a convenient digital source like this.

You also need to be sure your DAC on the source supports 24bit decoding, as well as whatever bitrate the music is encoded. If the receiver is only 16/44.1, then all your 24/96 music on X3 still won't play correctly.

ClieOS,

Thanks for all your help on this thread here.
Can you comment on the noise floor of X3?
How "black" is the background when using low impedance BA IEMs?  AK100's are known for how silent they are, and was wondering if X3 achieves a similar level of low noise floor.
