how can i use the x3 as a dac for my ipad mini running ios 6.1.2 that has jailbreak.
 
If x3 does not work as a dac for ipad mini, can you please tell me which dac would work with the ipad mini, and links to cables and connectors I need to buy to make it work as a dac

if this doesn't work, it's not my fault, but you could try the camera connector kit from apple, with this app: (cameraConnector)

Sorry, X3 will consume a lots of power from USB port so it is not a good combo even it works.

yes, go to play all then choose shuffle or put all songs on single folder on sd card, then browse files to that folder and play with shuffle mode.

  good mp3 rips will sound about the same as flac with normal to medium headphones. probably high-end headphones and good hearing only will detect mp3 flaws due to lossy compression.
i tried few times to spot wav or flac vs mp3 differences and on a blind test using a Sony X1050 i thought an mp3 was in fact a wav. Headphones were Grado SR60.

 
May I correct one thing? Instead of 'good' hearing I´d say 'trained' hearing. That´s all 

 
But it´s completely correct, the sound of mp3 is much better than its reputation.

The catch for me isn't that I have a lot of mp3 music, its that what I do have in mp3 format is that way because I had to take it that way - ie Bellflower is a sountrack and its only available on vinyl or an mp3 album format.  So, no cd to rip from means I have to take mp3s.  That means any mp3s I have are for things I would have really wanted in order to deal with getting stuck with an mp3.
 
My hunch is, with the target market for the high end player, the company doesn't have a lot of people that are worried about mp3 playback at all (outside of the ones you got stuck with only available in mp3 format as mentioned above).
 
Things that make you go 'hmmmm' as they say.  I wonder how 'bad' mp3s sound - fortunately I can check here locally as I believe they are in stock in a shop.  I will also consider the dx50 although it sounds like it has more than its share of issues as well.

 
You just want to play something that is dear to you in the best quality possible considering the codec it was stored in. I understand. If FiiO implements what others and I suggested, you will be able to. If not, you´d have to convert it to .wav for the X3... or you can still play it in perfect quality on your PC

sorry, We have not such DAC cause we have not MFi licence.

If you do "play all" it will play all your catalogued files no matter where they are. I don't think you can restrict it to the card, though. Is that what you want?

ah but its not doing that, selecting play all only plays the onboard storage.

Are your files all tagged, and have you done an "update lib"?
