Btw, do we know if this has any sort of EQ??
I would really need to tone down the highs for my headphones or my Tinnitus tends to become mad at me with most headphones

I'd like to point for those worried about memory, that there are 128 GB SDXC cards out now.

That sounds good but will this fit into the X3. From pictures I'm looking at those SDXC cards are SD cards and not Micro SD cards. So will the X3 take SD cards or Micro SD Cards. I'm hoping SD Cards as that would easily solve the capacity issues plus SD cards are generally cheaper than Micro SD Cards. They also have SD to Micro SD card adapters with 2 Micro SD Slots available (2X16gb or 2X32gb) ;).

Right... but the complaint is that the X3 will only support up to 32 GB.

Personally I feel that's plenty.

Hopefully Fiio can overcome this by firmware updates. Especially if the device has no internal memory Fiio should not limit itself to 32 gb of capacity if larger capacities are obtainable.

You have a point but I honestly don't want to lug around these SD cards if possible. Would be worried about loosing them or damaging them. Although at this point in time I am not over 32 GB of music storage on my Current Sansa Fuze I am approaching it and would like a larger capacity for convenience. Not to mention how long will this player take to actually load the SD card. My fuze takes about 10 minutes to refresh my 16 GB micro SD card. Although that isn't unreasonable, it can get very irritating when you like to add music on a regular basis lol. I am very impatient. I use a solid state drive so I am use to speed ;).

I want to add something about the external memory for someone who don't concern about this point. It doesn't mean that maximum support of 32GB will limit the memory to carry your songs by only 32GB. It is swappable, so you can have much memory as much as you can. While the player with only internal memory can fill in your songs for limited. So internal memory for X3 is unnecessary to keep the song, if it increases the price of the player. I see James has a vision, and he can place Fiio products in the right place in the market with the appropriate price.

If you decide to get a fuze get the original fuze (not the fuze plus). The fuze plus is a nightmare now and sansa didn't have the courtesy of actually fully testing the device before releasing it out (basically using us a Guinea pigs). At this point I am very disappointed in Sandisk and am looking forward to this X3. I'll be done with Sansa if this X3 works as good as it sounds ;).

the fact that it only takes microSD and no internal memory is ok for me.
all specs i have read are pretty much cool and awesome.

i was thinking getting a fuze but now i might hold and wait to see the x3 price and release time.

I know some of you want us make a similar products with almost the same feature, function, SQ with other brand but with lower price! but we will more like to provide different products! it is different with other,

so you can have more choise! there are some very good DAP, like iPod, HiFiMan, Colorfly, Telcast, Hisound, Little Dot! and all of them have it's advantage! but it is hard to make one that can beat them all ! but of

course, it will be very simple to clone one and sell in lower price, I guess many factory can do that, but it is not our style!

I think with X3, E11, E17, E9, there will have so many combo for both portable and home use! and many people can purchase one or two or three depend on different request and budget!

does this mean that if we get the X3 we wouldn't need an FiiO E7 already?

from what i understand, the X3 itself is a DAP with a decent DAC inside already.. so it will become a X3/E9 combo instead?

If you mean by you don't need to connect a E7 to X3, then yes, since the amp section will be very similar between the two so there won't be a lot of benefit doing so.

X3 will have the same DAC as the E7, but will have better performance because it doesn't need to go through the USB receiver chip, which limits the function on E7. You can dock the X3 on E9, but you can't use X3 as an USB-DAC. Instead, X3 will serve as the source.

hahaha! My Clip+ was being funny at one time when I was travelling on a train, so I went to take the 16gb uSD out and it ejected itself out from the hole so fast I couldn't even see where it went. Everyone must've been looking at me like I was a madman looking under seats and on the floor. Found it after about 5 minutes behind a guy sitting a few seats away.. things are bloody tiny.

Maybe if you have a pixie assistant to hold onto them for you and help you change them.  Regular SD is already too small.  What happened to CF?  Are these things being marketed to gnomes or something?

I've done that a few times.  I've learned to put another finger over the card as a stopper.

This for real??? X3 has the same DAC capability as the E7 minus the USB? if this is true .. wow.. i hope the X3 comes out already

my big question is how much difference in sound quality would one hear using this with the jh3a as a digital transport, vs.. say.. the Solo.    obviously no one has the answer yet.
The solo claims such a superior jitter clock and asynchronous usb which seems like it would be great, but i really wonder how much of an advantage it has over something like the x3's digital out, or something like an ipad with camera kit.
