Uh, don't you mean that's not an SD slot? The thing on the left is clearly USB, while the center is the Fiio dock

Yes, you are right. It is an typo. I meant to say "SD", which will be on the side of the player and not on the bottom.

[update] for those who never keep track of the original X3 - there was no internal memory planning at first due to the limitation of the original SoC choice. Whether it will have internal memory now isn't clear to me yet, but hopefully it will be. But the ideal of X3 is to save the cost on internal memory and instead rely on SD card for memory in the original design.

Well and firmware and other "Support" for it. But yeah.

SD/SDHC/SDXC please. SDHC at the very least if you can't do SDXC

But if SDXC is possible............ let me check on Amazon how much 128GB SDXC card costs :)

Totally down for this player if I can throw that in.

Also, wheres my 128gb Microsd?! Now THERE will be a price ;)

If FiiO would make a large capacity DAP out of the "new" X3, with at least 128GB of internal memory and a SDXC slot, I'd be even more interested...

As far as I know it should be possible for most players (including X3) to use SDXC. The only thing you have to do is to reformat the exfat on the SDXC to FAT32. I think the most processors that are used in the players are not capable to take advantage of the possible read/write speeds of a SDXC. Also the OS that is running often does not support the exFAT format.

Please keep the 3.5mm audio line out plug on the bottom right (photo). Please, please please. Having only the dock as line out would limit the interconnects one could use.

And 55 hours playtime please, even 250+ hours would be more preferred. :D I enjoy only charging my Cowon once a week. but will suffice for less of course ;)

Let's see how many hours you can squeeze out of this DAP Fiio!

Here's to wishing against all wishes that it has an internal amp. I don't want to have to have my DAP and Amp with me for portable audio needs.

Umm, it has a headphone out so.....

I'm guessing the internal amp won't be anything special, thus not eliminating the temptation to pair it with the E17.

Basically this. And here is a beginner's point of view, coming into the audiophile game very late, and without any prior knowledge. I have the E17 and love it. Using the E17 with my computer is great for me because the DAC and amp in the E17 produces much clearer FLAC file sound than my computer. When taking the E17 out and about with me, paired with my iPhone, which is the only player I have, it doesn't sound as good, presumably because the AUX IN is amp only and not DAC.

So basically I think I want an all in one device. I want a device that plays FLAC and all the good stuff, with a quality DAC (why not use the wolfson in E17?) and a decent amp (also why not use the amp that's in E17?). SD slot. Other useful ports that I am not faniliar with ;) High quality player right there. E17 is $139.99 retail. Add a "player" (OS, etc.) for $80? $100? more. Total under $250. It's got to be obvious that I'm new at all this but am I missing something? Would this not be the ultimate package, IPod killer, mainstream-audiophile device that the masses could understand?
