So another holiday deals season is coming to a close. I find it interesting to reflect on the deal trends of the holiday season, and here's what come to my mind:

- Great deals on some of the better Sennheiser headphones, ie, HD800, 650, 600, 598. Some of the lowest prices to date, suggesting a change to the Sennheiser product line this coming year?

- Massdrop going legit on Head-fi, and the K7XX drop.

- Good prices on the Koss ESP-950.

- anything else?

I remember to last year, some of the big deals involved: $150 HD598s, $200 UE900s, $160 W3s, good deals on Amperiors and Q701s... and many others.

Interesting how the offerings change from year-to-year.

Any other big deals buzz this year?

Dang... I LOVE this idea of a "head-fi deal year in retrospect" article... great idea!
 
Only other thing I noticed is a steady decline in the price of HiFiMAN offerings below (and perhaps due to) the HE-560, as well as a rise in the acceptance of Beats by Dre (perhaps due to their new 2014 or late 2013 models... not really a deal thing though).

My favorite deal: $325 ($352 with tax) on open box Sennheiser HD700. $100 for HD598 was a close second.

One of the biggest deal for me last year was $899 new HD800 fulfilled by Amazon. It didn't last long though.

Not a huge deal, but the Little Dot MKIV SE tube headphone amp is on Massdrop for $420 at it's lowest drop price.

Several "open-box" HE6 for $695 by either Audio Advisor or Razor Dog was the best deal I saw here I think.

i was there but at the time, I thought spending $800 on headphones are ridiculous... now, i would gladly pay $800 for a hd800 hahah

There were some good deals on custume, acs, UERM , others.
Thought Audeo PFE 232, while it is discontinues, at half price was a good deal on great iem's
And, lets not forget the Crowdfunding avalanche!!!

For me deal of the year was $500 for IE800 on NCIX.
 
Amazing headphones, pricey it may look like, but I got the IE800 along with Fidelio X1 for $180 at Amazon deal, when I compared both, i thought X1 sounded like a cheap $10 bargain bin headphones. It is literally sound nirvana that I reached with IE800 and my search for the perfect headphone ended.

This is an end game pair of cans. Is 9/10 a good 9/10 or bad 9/10 for these guys?

I know these guys and have been in the shop many times. They are a stellar shop and their ratings are always on the conservative side. Have no hesitation to deal with them if you see something you like.

Best deals of this year: Sennheiser HD 600, HD 650 (adorama) together with Crack OTL Amp added the Speedball Upgrade Kit for just $20 more (bottlehead.com), and the Centrance DAC Port LX (1Ohm model) for ~$160 (massdrop). A great rig for far less  than just a normal amp/dac with regular cans. Let´s hope for new deals like these!!!
