The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)
Nov 23, 2014 at 5:10 AM Post #8,671 of 35,337
I'll try this one more time. This needs to be the deal LISTING thread. No,discussions, no answers and no quotes or ongoing dialogue.
Just a listing of the item, the price, the location (website, store, etc.), any pertinent info (Flash Sale, limited quantities, new or refurbed, number of days available etc.). I know this will work and be a real valuable to members if set up right. This is NOT what the deal thread is now despite some people's opinions. Each person who lists items would be responsible for removing them when they are gone (sold out, price change, deal expired, etc.)  There would be zero work for the moderators part as the members would be responsible for the content, inclusion and removal. At bare minimum, a test needs t be run on this idea. It isn't just because it is my idea. It is a good one that will work.

^^ title says Deals DISCUSSION THREAD.

As for that now mentionable unmentionable site's turn-around time I thought that's how they made money...hanging onto your $$ and probably getting a 30-60 day term with the manufacturer. Which means they have your money for a period while order is made after a particular deal goes through, shipment comes in, etc. Meanwhile they have 30-60 days to pay the manufacturer.. That's my guess in group buys

Like it or not, whatever gets posted in this thread is not determined by you, nor will it ever be. People inevitably discuss the deals in the thread, it's just not something that can be controlled or moderated. There were many previous attempts at Deals-only threads in the past (that are now locked) because people like you kept complaining about discussion in the threads, which forced the moderators to keep deleting posts, but in the end it became way too much work for them (because of the amount of posts and flag requests). Hence they just decided to have a largely un-moderated Deals Discussion thread.

I agree that it's a good idea (in theory), but it's an idea that will never work in actuality because you can't force people to stop discussing the deals (unless the moderators were to become totalitarian, which will never happen), and there are always some people who want to.

It was tried before and ended badly. From what I remember about the now closed thread that tried running on that idea, it just didn't go well. People inevitably asked questions (which can be very valid because sometimes people jump the gun and post deals that really just normal price or worse, or have other relevant questions) and others complained and got overly liberal with the report button. This system has been working for quite some time and I don't want to risk losing it again even though it would certainly help my wallet if it did disappear.

The discussion about the K7XX doesn't seem to be too out of line; it would be a good, but not great deal if it were on the same level as the Q701, but since it's been discussed that this is basically a K702 Annie at less than half its retail price, it's definitely a good deal.

Just basically got these for free from the Sony Store -- $100 statement credit on today's purchases if you're willing to sign up for their 1yr interest free, Sony Card via Capital One...'What's on your head?'

Sony MDR-XB950BT for $99.99 with Free Shipping
http://store.sony.com/extra-bass-bluetooth-headset-zid27-MDRXB950BT/B/cat-27-catid-All-Weekly-Deals-Featured-Offers?_t=pfm%3Dcategory

If the credit card thing doesn't interest you, they are $98 on Amazon with free shipping and no tax -- which Sony charges.

FWIW, they seem to be getting good reviews on Head-Fi and other sites. Looks like they corrected some of the issues with the previous XB lineup and these have solid bass with good mid/treble clarity. Can be used wired or via bluetooth. Apparently the bluetooth works well also.

Many moons ago, others deals threads were closed because of the permanent discussion between headfiers. In the end, the only thread that survived is the one where you're currently at. You might say why do people have to comment? simple: because not everything is a deal or a headphones' deal, or a good/reasonable option. Something is better than nothing.

The irony here of course is that there's always one person every so often suggesting the chatter is kept to a minimum and the result is always a response of 2 pages worth of chatter directly after! :p

Oh god, I just plugged my HD650 into my new Project Ember.  All of a sudden the decision on whether or not to keep this got a LOT harder.  Man I'm just itching to get my hands on that HD700 now!

I understand...didn't like them until I heard them through a good amp, they are the definition of scaling up!
