There is the Newport Beach Audio show this weekend and a couple of head-fiers are attending, so we should get a couple of impressions of the hifi-M8 to feed us.

I have an iphone 4 32GB (as transport-no sim) for my favorite music.
And an ipod touch 4G for my Tier 2 music when I want some music I dont usually listen to.

USB LODs, there is always the custom route. Qusp, Toxic cables, Forza.
I dont know their current prices.

But as I have written before, the Hifi-M8 USB-LOD delivers quality sound and would only recommend (at this stage) another USB-LOD If you want a smaller fitting LOD.
I will do some A/B testing between the Hifi-M8, Qusp, Fostex and Apple USB-LODs when I get my unit.
I can loan you the VentureCraft cable too. I use it for charging my iPhone more than a audio USB LOD.

Just made this as an experiment.  Once I can test functionality when I get home with a different DAC, I will probably finish it up with Sugru or epoxy putty.  I eyeballed the length and positioning based on the M8 renders on the CEntrance site.  I will be attending Chifiunifi, where CEntrance will be present on the 22nd of June, so will be able to test the fit then if units aren't shipping by then.

This took a LOT of patience to make.  Really hope it fits because I don't want to have to do it again :)

So, how do I pay you for this?

I really need to get a soldering iron.  Look at all the fun I'm missing out on...

I really lack faith in myself, to do that kind of precision stuff.

Looks great man, I really hope it ends up working!......I'm looking forward to your tutorial.

BTW, is that a micro USB?

Thank you. Yes, it is a micro USB B connector. I got a few on ebay a while back when I got my previous Android phone.

I have confirmed that this cable works with my Galaxy Note II going to my Nuforce HDP.  Pictures of the finished product are in the DIY cable gallery:  http://www.head-fi.org/t/71148/diy-cable-gallery/12000#post_9489290

For those interested in making your own, here is the tutorial I put together:  http://www.head-fi.org/t/666267/diy-otg-micro-usb-b-cable-to-usb-b-tutorial

Right-angled micro B to B @ 4" for 50 bucks

Very interesting site, except they won't do shorter than 4" and that requires a ferrite bead.  They are splicing premade ends together which doesn't seem very robust to me, especially for this application.
