Ya, x2 is not neutral. Dt880 is close to neutral. To my ears, x2 has a large mid bass hump and veiled top end.

I had X2 before. It's, to me, underwhelming. The sound is neutral and bored. Though it's made of aluminum, the metal finish is pretty bad. DT880 has great great built quality. I will vote for 880 anytime!

That's just way off. The X2 are nowhere near neutral. Highs are much more up front on the DT880's, though. Maybe that's what you meant with boring? :D

A matter of perspective

It is not a matter of perspective, the x2 is a very colored headphone - not neutral. Do you mean natural? I wouldn't personally call the x2 natural either, but I could see the argument more likely. The dt880 is almost dead neutral, most people agree. The treble is a tad boosted, but otherwise it is neutral. Now, I would not accuse the dt880 of being a super natural headphones, others take that prize.

Would the HRT microstreamer drive the DT 880 Premium 600 Ohm well with good sound quality?

Really not enough power to bring out the greatness that is the DT880.

Is this the Premium 600 ohm version or the Pro 600 ohm version? What is the difference between the pro 600 and the premium 600 soundwise?

What usb dac/AMP would you recommend around $200?

The 600 ohm version requires a fair bit of voltage to reach optimum performance, around 6V of output. The problem is the voltage limitation on USB amplifiers providing that voltage, you really need an external power supply.

I really do not understand why everyone wants a 600 OHM headphone when they don't have any gear to drive them or they want to drive them from their phone/ipod. A 250 Ohm version would reduce the voltage requirements by half and a 32 ohm version even more.

I power my DT880 250 ohm with a FiiO E09K/E17 combo or from the Little Dot MK IV tube amplifier at the desktop. If I take them portable, I have a FiiO E12 that runs them perfectly off my DAP.
