I have the NightOwl and they are the most comfortable over-ear I own. Sound quality is great as well...a keeper for me.

For that price, you'll be really surprised. Knowing what I do now, I would have payed more and still be happy.

Got to say, I have been struggling with the X3ii. I loaded about 350GB onto a card and forgot to format to Fat32, unit can't read card in exfat to update library. Formatted card on my computer and then reloaded music back, unit still won't read it. Forgot that the X3 is finicky with cards unless you let the unit format it. Damn, third time better be a charm...takes hours to load the card. Just want to listen to it...seems like the mechanical gremlins and such have been visiting me too long. Still can't get my car to where it is fixed...I need to decompress and just be in a state of equilibrium, no fixes needed for anything and no money bleeding away. Positive note the new FW worked out...

Are they really that good? At that price I'll find out I guess, lol.

I have had mine for almost three years now. I will never part with them. I bought a 2.5mm balanced cable for them last autumn.

Looks like no Sony 40th Anniv. announcement, so the wait continues and a decision to either source a used WM1a/z or hold out for a successor. Only thing announced was an engraving service for a Series DAPS.
I was thinking of holding out to see if there was a 1A/Z successor but then thought if there is a new 1Z, how much will that cost and will I actually want it ?
I’m not into streaming at all, don’t need loads of power and the 1Z I have just bought is perfect for me. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea of course but I would urge everyone to at least give it a try if the opportunity comes along.
One thing is for sure with the 1Z, Sony hit the ball out of the park with this one

Totally agree, only thing I have negative on the 1Z is the weight, I'd get a 1A in a heartbeat for the right price and would have loved for the rumor of a ZX300 replacement with sound/features similar to 1A to happen and I would have ordered on the spot if that happened.
