Thanks, but it's actually not a power hum. Regardless of set volume, it's a very loud (to a point I worry about hearing loss) digital noise. I have tried different ports and devices and it seems to occur.

Hate to say it but could be a return job, I have not encountered anything like this noise sorry can't be of more help.

Hi @FiiO I am really enjoying the M11 but wanted to bring one dangerous issue to your attention.

I mentioned this in the M11 thread with link to the sound clip: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/fii...io-spdif-output.902622/page-169#post-15000247

When I listen to M11 music player while connected to USB port of PC/Mac (in file transfer mode), there is a very (dangerously) loud digital noise when I start my music (see my post above for link to sound clip). I can't provide an exact method to replicate but here are some trends:
  • It seems to happen after I have done a few file transfers to onboard SD cards
  • The noise happens when I start to play from a stopped/silent/mute condition
  • Sometimes the noise is a brief buzz, other times it seems to go one for about 5 seconds. When it happens, it is the same duration and only goes longer/worse.
  • I can disconnect the USB C and the noise goes away
I often use M11 while charging at my desk from PC and I have to make sure I don't have the IEM in my ears when I restart music. I would appreciate it if you can look into this and advise. Thanks!!!

Got it and have forward to our engineer and will fix it if we check out what happen, but plz don't play music when you connected M11 to you PC/MAC .

I wrote it in another thread, but I'll write it here as well :

Hi @FiiO ,

make some high-end dap with noise floor lower than 3uV on balanced output, please. :)
I think that a lot of yours customers are listening their high-sensitivity iem's on low volume, especially when they are going to sleep.
Otherwise we must use some other adapters (like iFi iEmatch) which can change the original sound of iem.

or

maybe good idea will be high-end dap with only two balanced outputs (no 3,5mm single-ended at all):
one 2,5mm balanced output with Noise floor <3uV , Output power approximately ≥200mW (16Ω / THD+N<1%) - for sensitive IEM's
and other 4,4mm balanced output with higher Noise floor, Output power approximately ≥500mW (16Ω / THD+N<1%) - for full-size headphones

Cheers.

Got it but it is quite difficult to decrease the noise floor to less than 3uV cause it is related to gain and power output.

Here's another idea for @FiiO or any other manufacturer lurking in this thread (if you like it I want a cut of the sales  )

How about implementing ANC in a DAP? Just like on ANC headphones, the DAP would just need a couple of external microphones built in, and if turned on, would work just like any headphone ANC mechanism. Yes, it would have some obvious limitations (might not work well if inside a pocket for example) but otherwise it can be a great, unique feature that can turn any headphone to ANC. Would be perfect for use in flights or public transport for example.

Can be a nice distinct feature if any manufacturer picks this up!

From another thread, but this might be an idea for a small BT receiving amp that clips onto full-sized headphones.

thanks, depended on your feedback it may be a firmware bug but it is very difficult to repeat it and our engineer told me that the new firmware seems already fixed it .

@JamesFiiO thank you! I have one week time window to return/exchange if this is a hardware issue. Based on your comment, can I assume that I do not need to worry about exchange?
