Serratus with Sony NW-ZX100. ZX100 is only capable of 15mW per channel max. and driving the Serratus beautifully. Volume on the ZX100 is at 50% for this album. I have to lower the volume for other albums that were mastered with a higher amplitude.

@tgx78 has elected to not include that modded one-off in the timeline. Thank you for the submission though... please do keep them coming whenever you come across any. Cheers.

So glad to see that TGX is getting his own thread! He deserves it, truly a great tuner for his buds.
Absolutely deserved! This is the genius of @tgx78! Kudos to @Dsnuts for starting it!

I picked up my Tantalus at the post office yesterday and first impressions are pretty good, timbre and resolution seem to be impressive. Bass is impressively punchy, didn't expect this from an earbud. Acoustic instruments are particularly excellent, texture, weight and timbre when listening to piano and guitar tracks were sublime. So far so good, much more listening to do.

Small Comparaison Between Serratus and HD6XX (far from a review)

Serratus recieved. Rig: Cambridge CXC CD player to NAD m51 to Phonitor XE. Listening to Sains-Saens piano concerti.
Yesterday I listened to the same recording with the HD6XX; in comparaison there is way more expression and musicality with the Serratus.
I'm hearing more details too but I can't believe it could be true so I'll just say "it feels like it", and will have to confirm later on.
The Serretus feels just way more dynamic too. Of course what I say about the Serratus must also apply to the Alpha but I haven't heard the Alpha with these recordings yet.
I'm very bad at describing audio but i'll give an example: on the sennheiser when the music goes from soft with one instrument (piano) to a tutti (full orchestra with all instruments) it doesn't feel at all as grand and submerssive as the Serratus, where I feel the wave of full cosmic force taking over during the transition.

That's the magic of @tgx78 . Unreal timbre and tonality

You described the audio well, sir. I can get a clear mental picture of how Serratus work with concerti from your writing. The dynamic contrast is very interesting though.
