Sony's new flagship 2014 - MDR-Z7

They are officially released in Japan tomorrow. I'll see if I can't get a pair. I'm actually after a pair of headphones that are a bit more "fun" than my HD-800s for all the music where ultra-detail isn't important.
post them impressions!! :)

Can someone post a pic of the earpad opening of the cups, from a dead-on angle looking straight down into the opening, with a quarter in it?  I wish to compare with the size of the lcd3 opening.

Someone asked about storage container.................here's the Z7 in a Slappa hardcase.  Fits perfect but the wires need to be removed.

More headphone porn...............in my office next to my D2000.  Much lighter.  Such a difference it surprised me.
Brought them here to have one of my co-workers comment on the leakage.  Waiting for her arrival...........

Wow, they look to be just as big on the smallest setting as the D2k is, can you confirm this?
I've never had a problem with fit on Sony cans but the D2k is so freakishly large on the smallest setting that I couldn't get them to fit at all. So if that's the case, no Z7 for me. :frowning2:

I just expect your next post saying something like: "Well, my co-worker could hear EVERYTHING out of the Z7s... so sorry guys, these suck in an office environment setting or the library..."

Cause if not... Paypal credit is just about to go kaput! LOL!

Leakage...............cranking pretty loud you can hear it faintly from about 4' away.  Not sure if this would be "cubicle acceptable" but I think so............I had it LOUD and could not hear it from 8' away around the corner.  At all.

Keep in mind I have a Sennheiser HD650 pad on the headband of my D2K.  That makes a 1/2" difference I'd guess.

Hmm I used a set of Grados at my local library, and within like 4 feet I could be heard, but outside of that it was un dicernable... An this is at moderate levels of course. I would imagine that the MDR Z7 is going to leak less than a set of open backs.

I'll also mention that the MDR XB700 had a lot of leakage at loud volumes
