what would be the diference? the sync?

Hey man, I know you're not staying up to date with the thread, and I'm not gonna start summarizing what was mentioned.

You'll have to go some pages back and get up to date, or you'll have to wait until the release.

I'm really digging FE on my newly acquired wm1z at the moment and really can't imagine how it can sound even better with FE+, as this is already the best source I've ever heard. Even lowly iems sound impressive out of it.
I haven't heard Sonys stock 3.0 fw to appreciate the differences to FE as I bought used with FE already installed but I'd like to do that one day (or maybe not).

I think the idea of making a choosable fw-option between FE & FE+ on boot is just genious (Sony should hire you @MrWalkman), I've never heard of a hifi DAP with 2 tuning options, this makes our device even more valuable
Hope it works out as I really like the smooth FE tuning at the moment and not losing it by going FE+ would be awesome :)

Even with 20/25% of battery in less, the autonomy stays more than correct.
And you can choose to stay on FE...

Good job @MrWalkman !

Oh I'm deffinately staying on FE+ as I have the upgraded battery so should still get about 30 hours per charge with FE+ compared to about 40 hours on FE

The only negatives with WM1A/Z is power output, which behoves the listener to wisely match the headgear and the lack of direct streaming which is nullified by LDAC streaming from a Smartphone. Overall you'll be pushed to find a more flexible DAP thx to Sony's semi open mindset and custom firmware. Other DAP's you get what you get and are at the behest of the provider and their firmware updates, some DAP's offer interchangeable modules at additional cost.

WM1A/Z presents one of the better analogue sound signatures on a digital platform. There's better equally with far fewer features and or far higher price points. Build quality is top notch with only the display ages the DAP, yet remains more than adequate as a stand alone player. Over all WM1A/Z has more flavours than tutti-frutti thx to a dedicated HW & SW modding community and still remains an easy buy in 2021. Get them while the going is good :)

Hello everyone, I just had a quick question as I'm on the fence about buying one of these Sony NW. I've been searching around second-hand markets and can get my hand on both A45 and A55 for around 100€ each. Is there any reason to go with the A45 over the A55 model ? This is all taking into account the fact that I will surely install one of MrWalkman custom firmwares.
Thanks a lot.

I didn't notice an extra battery consumption in my case

Strange. Are you sure you have FE+ installed ?
We are several who have registered the 20-25% extra consumption, dropping from about 40 to about 30 hours on a full charge
