Strange. Are you sure you have FE+ installed ?
We are several who have registered the 20-25% extra consumption, dropping from about 40 to about 30 hours on a full charge
Yes I concur. Fe+ indeed consumes far more battery than Fe. But the quality of sound far surpasses the disadvantage so I’m cool with it. I see a drop of around 20% as well compared to fe on my WM1A.

Hummmmm... I just read your signature...
You got an hardware unit modified "Sony NW-WM1Z (NP Audio EXPm2.5, J region and FE fw)", maybe this is the reason ?

@aceedburn : what about you ? Which unit do you own ?

I get 40 hours on that unit with FE and 30 hours with FE+. The only difference between FE and FE+ is that FE+ pushes the SMaster in high power mode

Stock WM1A. Used to get about 20 hours or so with fe. Now I get 15-16 hours with fe+.

Yes, my 1A is loaded with FE+. However, maybe I don't listen continuously. Only 1-2 hours per day.

It should not matter how you listen

My 1A is approaching 10.000 playback hours and still rock solid, only for the ocassional glitchy audio noises drop outs on the 4.4mm side

I'm one of the guys who usually listens 1-2 hours per day - sometimes more, of course. Especially as I don't go around much these days and because I'm not listening too much to the player, I'm not keeping a tab on the battery.

I'm currently working on the update, and it should be ready in several hours. I had to redo the visualizers syncing, this time with a proper metronome sound, and it's just awesome.

So yes, you will be able to check if you're on the Plus (+) or on the Classic version, in the "Unit information" menu.

And the only difference between them is that Plus drives the S-master in high mode ?

That's not only it, and it's also more like the S-Master working in a non-low power mode.

Nonetheless, the "Plus" mode should be seen as a better rendered FE ("Classic") signature.
