Sony Walkman custom firmware (non-Android)

To connect to the Walkman to use it as the receiving device you need to open the BT receiver option on the Walkman and connect through that rather than in the Bluetooth settings. Hope that helps.
For the WM1x walkman, only the Sony RMT-NWS20 works. And this is for some region codes only. The Rockbox listing shows what regions support the BT remote.
Also works for the ZX300. Not sure if it works for other models.

Perhaps I misunderstood, I thought the issue was that he wanted to play music from his phone to the WM1A using the Sony music center app - for this the WM1A would need to be connected in BT receiver mode.

May be my misunderstanding.

He did not specify what exactly he wanted to do by attempting to connect those devices via Bluetooth and NFC, so it's all good

It's not fully just running the other firmware on another device, and also I have the means of doing that, and testing it safely before releasing it to the public and getting others' devices bricked.

Could you please not try to start something out of everything I post?
it would be awesome but you cant replace the equalizer right? it kind of scares me lol but maybe for direct source users this new sound could be applealing thanks mr walkman

It could be possible, but that would mean something like running the A45/A55 app on the WM1A/Z (losing other WM1 firmware things like the DC Phase Linearizer options, Vinyl Processor options, the WM1 interface, etc.), and I'm not sure about doing that.
i will be awesome if you could try let us have that clear audio a listen

@MrWalkman Is it posible to have stock fw 3.02 and install DMP-Z1_Ext_Tuning to keep the fw and get the Sound signature only?

No as DMP-Z1_Ext_Tuning will only install once the device has been changed to a DMP-Z1.

Maybe the old model switcher could be used to change the model and then install the tuning ?
Never tried it so not sure what it was capable of

What If I install everything and then only use the Stock_revert installer? Wouldn't that keep the sound tuning? It's for testing purposes, since I love the sound signature.

Stock_revert installer will take you back to WM1 3.02 with unknown tuning.

Using just StockRevert install will keep just the DMP-Z1 external tuning (without the sound improvements).

Nope - DMP-WM1 FE is more or less 3.02 with the sound signature anyway.

Also, the point is to use the most recent firmware anyway, for the most stable experience.

I will always maintain that there are reasons to buy gear outside of what is stated on the spec sheet. Walkman is a prime example. Android or not, I simply like the heritage, the house sound, the DSP features, the simplicity, the usability and commitment to aftersales service.

The power question becomes moot by choosing gear that's designed to work with it. Every product - especially portable products - have compromises because that's the nature of design and engineering. Our hearing hasn't exactly reduced in gain since 1990 when the average cassette stereo had maybe 5mW of output power from the headphone jack at best.

There are multiple ways to go about the audio hobby. You could go to ASR, look up the best thing, and just buy that. I quickly realised, however, that that wasn't the way I wanted to go.
I just go with whatever sounds the best for a given budget.

I can live with a few bugs here and there.

This is a useful little remote; especially if you carry 1A/1Z everywhere. Very small and convenient

I can't live without the Remote on the go.
I usually put my songs on Shuffle and remote to skip songs.
