I recommend everyone to please read the whole post on the website first!

Thanks.

Yes mostly things tend to work if one carefully reads all instructions and follow them

I did follow the instructions but was still having issues. I eventually got it figured out, but thanks for the condescending replies everyone! Super helpful.

You never confirmed if you were actually on a previous DMP-WM1 firmware before. If you were, then yes, you needed to revert back to stock first. This is because while you are using a DMP-WM1 firmware, the model of the player is "DMP-Z1". This model won't match the "NW-WM1A" or "NW-WM1Z" that the installation of another DMP-WM1 firmware is expecting, and it will just tell you to connect the player to the USB cable.

If the model was actually "NW-WM1A" or "NW-WM1Z", then you wouldn't get the "Connect player to USB" message.

I mentioned this situation on the blog post for the DMP-WM1 FE firmware, but you still say that you get that message. Hence, the conclusion is that you didn't actually read the whole post. So I don't really see how we were not helpful here.

Care to share the issue and your solution?

What issues are you encountering, sir?

Nobody is obliged to provide technical support here. Being snotty about your perceived lack of being helped doesn't change that.

I am not encountering any issues, unit arrives today :) I was just wondering why the user did not post more info when asked and no resolution after fixing it, considering it could benefit this thread. But I assume it was user error since nothing was posted. Was just curious.

I've added additional info to my post, in regards to what was the issue here. The "Connect player to USB" message won't show up if the player is actually on the stock firmware.

This is a modified firmware, for two $1000 and $3200 price players, so I expect users to actually read what's written there. That's all :)

I did mention I was on a previous firmware. I read the instructions, downloaded and installed the stock revert and tuning, tried to install FE and was still getting the error.

I may be being sensitive, but I’m reminded why I didn’t participate in the community for so long. The dickishness and elitist attitudes are ridiculous.

If the StockRevert installation was successful and the model was back to "NW-WM1A" or "NW-WM1Z", then there's no reason why you would still get the error. As I said, the error is only happening if the expected model is not the same as the player's model.

Also, you still didn't share what happened and what did you need to do, or anything like that. So while we are actually trying to help, you didn't share anything that could help us help you better.

If you go back and read posts from this thread, you'll realize it's not like you think it is. Also, there were cases of people who didn't really read everything before, so why would that not apply to you?

Cheers, and it's your choice if you don't want to participate in the community. Everyone else seem to have no issue with this community.

Well several commented with questions and suggestions but you never reacted to any. So what was the problem since you managed to fix it ?

Oh my eyes just rolled really hard into the back of my sockets.
