Nah percentages just don't work when talking about audio gear period. Thats why i prefer sorting them by tier.

Here's my Dap ranking (purely by SQ)

H denoting holographic soundstage (H>H>h)
Summit-fi
--------------------
--------------------
--------------------DMP-Z1 (H)
--------------------N8
High-end----------Sp1000 (H) || Paw Gold Touch (h)
--------------------
--------------------
--------------------Sp1000m (h)
--------------------N6ii (with Ti and Sabre modules) || DX220 (with Amp 9)
Upper midrange--M11 Pro (H) || DX220 (with all other Amp modules) || SE100 || WM1A/Z
--------------------R6 Pro || N6ii (stock module) || ZX507
--------------------R6 SS || DX160 (lurker mango OS) (h)
--------------------DX160
--------------------
Midrange---------M11 || N5ii || R6
--------------------
--------------------
--------------------M9 || DX150 (stock)
--------------------R5
Budget------------M6 || M7
--------------------N3 || A35
Totally agree. That Holographic stage on the DMP is ridiculous.
Real 3D space, with chiseled instruments that have a realistic edge.
It was quite something hearing that first hand.
DMP, with my IEMs as a pairing was on a different level altogether.

Modded Kaesei 1A with the DMP firmware is above the SP1000 on my tier, it has some of the holographic presentation of the DMP-Z1, but nowhere that level of detail or texturing. For a portable DAP, and for my tastes it is a keeper.

Anyone else try the DMP-Z1 mod on their 1Z besides me and @Redcarmoose ?

I did. Let’s just say that I’m gonna stay with this FW until @MrWalkman comes up with another improved FW :relaxed:

This will pretty much be top of the line for some time. I can't promise I can do better than this, but I have some other ideas to experiment, not necessarily sound related. Will see what the future holds. :)

The WM1A especially, has come a long way from the stock sound, with no tier X hardware needed.

One question. Did the warm and neutral outputs on the WM1A switch after the firmware mod?

Because on the WM1Z and DMP-Z1, unbalanced was neutral and balanced was warm while on the WM1A, unbalanced was warm and balanced was neutral.

I changed my mind. I will do a comparison with my IER-Z1R in 35 minutes

I'm not really sure about this.

I'll let a better ear to judge that.

Yup. Heading to E-Earphone now with my IER-Z1R to do that comparison battle. Hmm

Parametric eq or at least 20 bands, please 🙏 😃

Those are things that are already in the player app, and I'm pretty sure they couldn't be changed without the source code of the app.

@MrWalkman (or anyone who can help!)
I just tried to install the DMP-1Z FW on my WM1A, using a Windows 10 laptop.
I installed DMP-WM1 with no issues.
The WM1A rebooted, did its 'Creating Database' thing, then I switched off the USB Mass Storage function to unplug the device from my laptop.
I did this because I remembered the FW always says I need to unplug the DAP first, then it will ask me to plug it in again a bit later.

However, when I ran the DMP-WM1_Ext_Tuning file and plugged in the DAP when prompted, it just keeps bringing up the pop up box asking me to plug in the DAP (even though I'd done it, exactly as I did when I installed the first part of the FW).
Thus I cannot progress any further.

Any idea what's gone wrong and how to resolve it? :(

I’m on a different schedule meaning at times Me/other people don’t know when things are so great? I wouldn’t care if anything new was 1 year or 5 years away. What’s important and what’s critical is the naturalness to me. Meaning quality is like an heirloom, it’s not judged in time frames; we may have that here?

Just download it and install it again from the updated link on the site. PM me if you can't install it for some reason.

And I advise everyone else who are planning to install it, to download it again, as the error thing above was fixed.

I think he means to ask a rhetorical question: When/how often are we having something as great as this? Also, he doesn't care if a new/improved sound will be 1 year or 5 years away, and that what's good, it's good and that's it.

Interpreting posts :D Correct me if I'm wrong.
