Just download it and install it again from the updated link on the site. PM me if you can't install it for some reason.

And I advise everyone else who are planning to install it, to download it again, as the error thing above was fixed.

Thanks for the swift reply!
The thing is, I downloaded it just 10 or 15mins ago. Unless the FW has been updated in that time, then I must be using the latest one.

I tried running the FW update from the beginning and the same thing happened again; the first file installed, but the second file just got stuck on that message saying 'please plug in your device with a USB cable'.

No idea what's going wrong..
Is there any way to check in the unit info screen (or elsewhere) whether the tuning update has been installed already?
And assuming there isn't, does anyone have any ideas about how I can get this to work?
Am happy to provide screenshots and any information you might need in order to diagnose and fix the issue :)
Am dying to get this working and enjoy that DMP-1Z FW sound :(

Just make sure the model is "DMP-Z1" and that you can see "DMP-WM1" in Unit information.

Interesting. When I installed the DMP-WM1 file, it said it had installed successfully and the unit rebooted and everything.
However, when I checked the unit information screen on the WM1Z just now, the model is still listed as NW-WM1Z (with WM1A/Z++ FW).

Gah, what is going wrong? Any ideas?

It’s a form of appreciation of something for it’s perfection. The fact that as humans we can come in contact with perfection but seldom understand it fully. In our society we are pre-programmed to expect “out-of-fashioned” we are told to expect obsolescence. So upon witnessing timeless perfection we are blind.

In my learning curve I have never been able to grasp the best updates till a long listening time was put in. It’s mental adaptation but also mental-burn in.....to simply hear perfection and not question it. To not think something could be better goes against the grain of audiophile corporate strategy. It goes against consumerism to the point of insanity.

Maybe you don’t get it?

The goal is to have a last one!

The installer says "the procedure was successfully initiated" or something like that. The firmware installation then proceeds on the player.

Could you please try installing DMP-WM1 again?

Same here, I see people sometimes just trying to see if they can find better, better DAPs, better headphones/IEMs, but not too many just taking a break and appreciating what they hear.

At least in my case, the WM1A, with sound of this firmware are pretty much perfect at this point. There could be something better, but this already sounds so good, why should I not take a break and enjoy it, instead of stressing about what should I look to next?

I also have Sony Z7M2, Sony XBA-Z5, and Shure SE846 (which I got some time ago), so I got some options here. Z7M2 are really something in their category of headphones, and the same goes for the other two in their IEM category. Maybe XBA-Z5 is better, but the Shures are also something. With all these, I can say I can certainly stop looking for anything for a while.

Try it a Few times. I had to do a bunch for it to work.
The player restarts and you should see a progress bar on it, and you'll know it worked.

Listening to Anima "Sound medicine" DSD and it is a surreal experience with this Firmware, Sounds coming at me from everywhere, water effects sound like I can reach out and touch them :)
Trippy experience, I can't wait for my friends to listen to this, they will flip the F out.

@MrWalkman , I owe you a bunch of beers for this one. I can't sleep, I keep wanting to listen to all my albums.

I'm wondering if this happens only on WM1Z players, or if someone with WM1A had this issue as well.

Also, after I updated the post this morning, is this still happening?

I used the StockRevert and installed DMP-WM1 again several times, and all went fine for me.

I found that my player had to be a 1A, as a 1Z switched it did not work.

Interesting, will switch it to 1Z as well and will see what happens and why it doesn't work properly.

For me the DMP-Z1 unbalanced + IER-Z1R is the pinnacle of what i've heard so far.

If only it was more attainable lol, which is why I'm so interested in this thread!!! :)

I already did, but I'll try one more time...

Ok... so, all 3 times I've tried now, it said "The DMP-WM1 firmware update has been initiated".
The DAP reboots, does its usual file scanning thing and everything seems fine.
But, it's not.
This time, before trying to install the DMP-WM1_Ext_Tuning file, I went to the settings screen on the WM1Z and checked the unit information.
Again, it's still showing the Model as WM1Z (with your custom FW WM1A/Z++).

Would I be right in assuming that if the installation of the first file was done correctly, then the unit information screen should show that the model has been changed to DMP-1Z *before* the tuning mod is applied?
And if so, then perhaps the issue is in the installation of the first file, rather than the second?

Any ideas what I can try now?
Perhaps using your StockRevert FW?
Although I'm a bit reluctant to do that, because if the DMP-1Z FW still won't work after that, then it's possible the WM1A/Z++ might not either, and I'll be stuck on the Sony stock FW lol.

But please anyone let me know if you have any suggestions?
Thanks for all the advice thus far, much appreciated!
