Sony Walkman custom firmware (non-Android)

Thank you @Steen Pihl and @nc8000 - Appreciated :)

Hoping that I can use the A55 on the go, and the 1A at home :)

Be aware that the A55 comes nowhere near the Sony advertised playtime. They advertise 39 hours play time with flac but I get at most about 10 hours and 3 days stand by with source direct and bt and nfc disabled

This MK1, MK2, etc. evolution reminds me of Dragon Ball’s Super Saiyan levels!! It keeps on reaching new heights and performance :relaxed:

The XBA-N3 sounds awesome paired with the A55 modded. Heck, it sounds even better than my XBA-Z5 which I found is less detailed to my ears compared to the N3.

I have been notorious for using the included Hybrid tips with the Z5. Then every once in a while you would read comments about the Z5 being bright and even shouty or grating? Those posts confused me for years as the XBA-Z5 has always been the example for Sony smoothness? Then I put random tips today and the Z5 actually has the capability of getting bright? Weird, tips really affect stuff?

Interesting I never thought about changing the original tips of the Z5.

I might give it a try and see if I notice a change. Thanks for suggestion.

It’s one of the single most confusing things. With some tips you can reduce the bass 90%. The stuff we have been trying to do with EQ, cables and firmwares is minimal in comparison?

Yeah tips are REALLY important. My favourite are the JVC Spiral dots for their tendency to make iems clearer. I use them on all my iems.

do you think these tips could be good for my z5? I think the sound is perfect, I just want a slightly better detail rendering, keeping the low range and increasing the soundstage 😁

Tips can do anything.
