Does it? I feel it doesn’t give enough juice for my 45ohm iem’s. Unusable below level 100 out of 120. I can only imagine how terrible with 300/600 ohm cans.

The ath-msr7b has no problems. Denon D5200 sounds good around 80-90/120. The Senn HD6xx struggles. The etymotic and klipsch iems I have run around 70/120. 3-600Ω are obviously out of the question.

I have the European version but removed that volume limitation. I installed the Asia version I think. I don’t see how your etys are ok at 70 volume while to me is no good below 100. I must be going deaf? Or maybe the firmware is at fault?
Are the volumes you quoted just for a55 only or a55/Fiio combo?

No, not yet. Do you think that will give it more juice?
No unless you use the higher gain setting in the fw

It's more about the improvement in sound quality, which is not small.

I will look into it soon. I barely used it on the Sony firmware which I find ok-ish sounding. I haven’t followed lately but know there are different versions, which one do you recommend?

I recommend the latest one, which is based on the WM1A/Z firmware. It's much better than previous iterations.

Hello! I remember you replying to one of my comments. You said the etys are ok around 100/120 if I remember correctly. Maybe I’m not going deaf after all.
It’s been many years since I had Ety’s so it can’t have been my comment as I’ve never tried an Ety with any Sony dap. When I did have Ety’s they were always used with a portable amp

You’re right, I remembered something but not accurately.
