Sony Walkman custom firmware (non-Android)

For example, the J region sounds the most balanced of all, and its value is 0x00000000. Other regions have different values. For example, CN is 0x00000004, while MX3 (LA in the firmware itself) is 0x00000306, and these values are used when initializing the DAC. There are some additional regions in the destination tool that are not "coded" in the firmware for these newer devices anymore, yet they still produce changes. While using one of these other regions, the firmware will default to the J region, while the changes in sound are still there, as the region's value is used when initializing the DAC.

I have an open mind, and also a simple one so measurements are not something I understand and look for. The human ear with it's design and then the way our brain works to interpret that info is of course not fool proof but I believe is more complex and can perceive vibrations at a deeper level than the general hearing range specs.
Whatever you focus on expands and is amplified so a wine connoisseur can detect minute details and tell you things that a regular joe couldn't, a good mechanic can tell what is wrong in any part of a car by driving or hearing it run - so I believe it is possible that as we are passionate about our gear and our music and spend a lot of time listening the concentrated focus allows us a deeper level of awareness and perception than science allows us to have.
But I also admit to being swayed and audio fooled, but as signature says.... (tilt mobile devices to landscape to show)

Honestly it's surprising that this is still going on considering that he flatly refused my asking him to document his findings to support his claim beyond "I have analysed, trust me", stating that he didn't have the time and/or had better things to do. At this point more time has been invested in arguing with folks than actually extending knowledge about Walkmen.
here stands someone who actually reads before writting.. thank you for that...

So a question for my fellow mod-heads...on the 1a, does the WM-port cable allow for USB out to an amp? I was just tinkering around and hooked the 1A to a portable amp (WM-port to USB) and it didnt work. Am I doing something wrong? I thought the WM port allowed for this..

The adapter itself (that you can buy) has additinal circuitry inside.

you need a LOD cable for it to work. the charger cable won't be able to do it.

Get the Sony NWH10 cable and you can then use any usb cable to hook it up to an amp/dac.

Silly question ... If I leave it like this, do I have the volume limit uncovered and the fm radio activated or do I have to change the region too? Thank you.

In the case of having to change the region ... which region do you recommend to have high gain and English or preferably Spanish language?

On these players the volume limit is applied depending on the region.

So in your case, you would have to change the region to another one but CEW2.

After changing it, you only need to restart the player.

Will I lose some functions if I change, for example to region 'J'?
