Yes, there is a sound difference. I recommend region J with this firmware.
My last question regarding region J. Would you recommend it to be used with WM FE? I'm sensitive to energetic treble,I have tinnitus. The two things seem to go together. Is the treble on the J region soft, gentle. My last word on the matter,I promise! Thanks again.

Yep, treble is just amazingly harshless with the J region :)

Always on J. Do you have a favorite of the 2 ?

Yes, I'm using DMP-A50R FE.

I forgot to mention that Tone Control (instead of the 10 band equalizer, you can switch between this and Tone Control) is also available with the A50R FE.

I'm gonna go out tomorrow for a while, and I'm gonna take the A50 instead of the 1A.

Dealbreaker :frowning2:

It doesn't replace the 10 band equalizer...

While in the EQ display, tap the bottom right corner and you can switch to Tone Control instead of the 10 band EQ.

Have just installed the R FE (was on R before).

Database creation takes forever, is that because the installation did a full factory reset so it has to rebuild from scratch ?

Also notice that the RickBox tool when switching back to J reports the model as ZX300.

Yes, it's because of the factory reset, the database is created as if it's the first time.

And yes, it shows the model as ZX300. It was the same with the previous DMP-A50R too.

Oh.....Nice!

I updated the features list to mention this, along with how to change to Tone Control.

OK didn’t notice that as I changed to J before installing R.

And my 1Z is on it’s way back again from Nayparm after having a new board and his latest 2.5 full mod done after the battery leak fitted with FE fw

The R FE has a fantastic tone and balance together with my nearly 11 years old JH13 ciem.

Will be very exciting to hear the FE on the full Nayparm modded 1Z, can only imagine that it will be something very special.

The FE firmware's improvement in soundstage is enormous!
The extra warmth and bass impact also make my music more enjoyable than before. :gs1000smile:
Thank @MrWalkman for your incredible work!

I'm glad you like it! On the WM1 players the sound is even better :)

Recorded this from the NW-A55 (3.5mm output), with the DMP-A50R FE firmware
DSEE AI on, DC Phase Linearizer set to Type A LOW, and Vinyl Processor set to Standard
This is originally a vinyl rip, so the pops/quality are from the song

Also, it was streamed via LDAC from my smartphone, using the Bluetooth Receiver function :)

It's really easy man.

First, open the bat file. The bat file and the tool should be in the same folder.

Then, connect your player, and enable the Mass Storage mode. Afterwards, keep in mind the letter of the internal storage (for example, G: )

To change your region, type:
Code:
scsitool-nwz-v27.exe G: dest_tool set J 0

J is the region, and 0 indicates that you do not want to enable the sound pressure regulation (volume limit).

All the available regions can be found in a table on the Rockbox link. Also, even if you set the sound pressure regulation to 0, the CEW regions will still have a volume limit.
After changing the region, do I need to reset the device?
