Virustotal.com scan the file you upload with 69 antivirus engines being among them all the usual suspects (kaspersky, norton, sophos, panda, etc) and many others. I don’t say MrWalkman wants to put a backdoor or trojan in our computer! I just really don’t know why 1/6 of the antivirus engines at virustotal warned that file as a trojan or backdoor file so I ask here. That’s all.

Me neither.

I didn't see this as a problem, maybe because I know I'm not doing anything wrong, but I'll look into packing the files in another way, so those 11 antivirus softwares would stop crying.

One clue as to how those antivirus softwares work, is that they are only warning of something. Warning of the file being X or Y is not the same as a straight detection to me.

Hi!
So it happens that my A-45 damaged in transit and propably need to get the A-55LB. Is there a firmware mod (or link to it) for that? Tried the search, but didn't find a link.
Thanks!

The A50 mods will receive an update today.

W10 utilises varying protection layers, especially if using Microsoft's own Edge browser. This generally keeps you safe, yet can be overly intrusive at times. If files are uncommonly downloaded they are far more likely to trigger one of Microsoft's security layers. That's what's likely occurring with the CFW downloads as the system & Microsoft's AI is looking in the millions of downloads per hour not a few thousand.

I my case the Edge browser security component was blocking the CFW download, however once downloaded MS Defender reported no issue. A touch inconvenient to need to change a few settings temporally, equally better safe than sorry. Bottom line is the CFW is safe, yet it's has modified components which can and will trigger some AV as that's how a lot of AV heuristics work looking for the unusual.

Hopefully this explains and removes some concerns. As ever never if in doubt check via Virus Total or download a reputable standalone on demand AV scanner such as Emsisoft Emergency Kit Scanner or Kaspersky KVRT

SQ is a vey personal matter, J region just tends to be the more balanced. High Gain and related features remain.
  • J Most balanced of all the regions, little warm, well suited for those who listen to multiple genres, BT remote capable.
  • CA sounds big and bouncy a little bloated in the mid bass, tends to spill over, BT remote capable.
  • CN is all about resolution with a bump in the sub bass, BT remote capable.
  • E is rather V shaped, can be piercing on the 1A, BT remote capable.
  • U is more U shaped than E
  • MX3 again V shaped with more presence in the bass than E
  • TW All about the bass, with average resolution, BT remote capable.
Best thing is to experiment as there's no negative consequence. If I had to make a call it would be J or MX3 . Personally I opt for J and keep returning as have multiple headgear and listen to multiple genres so the more balanced EQ makes sense. Is also worth noting that the vast majority tuning mods & emulations are generally based on J for the balance and the timbre.

Nice, little cheat sheet. There are also Korean, U2, U3 (alternative United States), Australia/Asia and Taiwan.

China has a cue sheet option on its FW as well.

I’d say Japan is probably the most balance and it's timbre is very analog.

“ideally” if you could switch regions on the go that would be great as some would sound, in certain music genres, better than others IMHO

I just got at my computer. These seems to be the antivirus softwares on Virus Total that are "detecting" the external tuning as a virus.

I honestly only heard about McAfee from these ones, though I never used it.

I don't think these are better than the likes of BitDefender, or F-Secure, or Kaspersky, for example, which are not detecting the external tuning as having a virus.

I would rather not spend time modding older buggy firmware versions, sorry.

I think this sounds really good, and we also get the really good experience of the latest firmware update (3.02).

14/16 Regions in total been through them all at one time or another, your right regarding the timbre. As ever things are not always as you think with Sony always applying a level of DSP to the tuning.

I know that my Norton keeps quarantining the tuning file when I unzip the FW folder, because it does not show enough overall usage and is not certified. Norton uses Sonar protection to detect and quarantine, but I was able to turn it off for a time period in order to download the file.

The IT guy who installed the FE on the 1Z & 1A,was extremely complimentary about the ease of use of the FE download.

Thanks, this was the aim :)
