Lots of nice DAPS coming out at the mo, but listening to my ZX through Andro's, or W60's, I'm struggling to find a reason why I would want to shelve this player. I haven't heard any of the latest but are they really so much better sonically that the ZX is now considered to be past its prime? They are nearly 2 years old after all.
The FiiO M11 is arguably a game changer as it offers great performance for its price, with a smoother OS and similar (if not better) sonic performance than much more expensive players such as the DX220 and Hiby R6 Pro, going off of what others have said. If you ask me it's probably more bang for your buck than the ZX300 too
I got my ZX300 for just over $400 used so slightly cheaper I guess. But I bought it because it sounds good and lasts longer than any other player I've found on a single charge.
So I can listen all the way across the Pacific and connecting flights with no recharge. FiiOs and AKs not so much.
Need something a bit slimmer for work as my Kann is a bit bulky, so want to know if this will drive a pair of fostex t60p's if I remove the volume limit ( I'm UK ) and use the 4.4mm output ?

I covered that before, if you search thread. However I have only used single ended out of ZX300, so I can't compare Mojo to balanced. They say balanced on ZX300 is better.
Both Mojo and ZX300 have balanced signatures where bass equals treble. They have 'very' similar tonality. Mojo is clearer, crisper, more dynamic and agile.
@GreenBow Thank you for the answer! Anyway Sony ZX300 must be used with the balanced output... After I get the package, I used the ZX300 only with the standard 3.5mm, then I bought the Mee Audio balanced cable and the ZX300 become a beast. I won't use the standard 3.5mm output anymore.
Balanced output wins hands down. Really.
Having used three generations of FIIO X5 before the ZX300 I can say that FIIO do offer a lot of bang for the buck but alas often many of the bangs don't work 100% and although they release an awful lot of updates they don't seem to manage to fix everything (even in new generation hardware).
I don't see them going beyond the 8 hour mark again as they all seem to run (old) android now, lucky a lot of the other bangs that I actually used worked most the time so wasn't too bad for me but was still unstable at times. I much prefer the sound of the ZX300 too but would have never considered the previous premium Sonys due to size and price.
Agree that the hiss is much more noticeable with the FiiO M11. A lot of reviews say they're black, but they most definitely are not. The UI is the selling point, along with that screen. I am keeping both.
Well, maybe.... what's this rumor about a new Walkman coming out this year to replace the NW-ZX300 since it's the anniversary of the Walkman?!?!
I've checked Sony salespersons few times over last 1-2 months regarding new models.. They said "none" .. But who knows - maybe Sony will have a special edition for 40th anniversary of Walkman..
Do you have a link to the source? If that's true it's probably a little unfortunate because if anything I'd hope the anniversary edition will be better than anything we've seen before haha
