Wav plays no problem but can't be tagged. Tags works fine in formats that support it. Album art can either be embedded in the tracks or it can be a file in the folder with the same name as the folder. With the stock fw only baseline and not progressive art is supported but the WalkmanOne modded fw supports both formats
That makes sense since no processing is required to decode a wav file and some say wav sounds better but on the other hand wav files are also bigger.
Sony obviously then support the extensions to wav that allows tacking (I didn’t know that) but that might not be true for all daps or computer playback apps

After some personal tests of my own, I agree that WAV files do sound better than FLAC files but that’s a rabbit hole I’d rather not get into on here lol. I also think WAV files are worth the extra space.
Agreed. Apple, and now Sony are the only two companies that I know support tags and album art for WAV files.
Just picked up the a55 and installed the custom firmware and it's sounds really impressive for something so inexpensive. Running it with my Etymotic er3se. I really like the size of this dap too. One thing I don't really like is the plastic back.
