I don't think that is correct. Early buyers had small numbers like 000124 and they grew pretty steadily from there.

And why would Sony preordain an 8000 unit limit? They should easily be able to exceed that if a much smaller brand like Campfire can sell 2000 units of a LE in 6 months.
Please excuse my little touch of ironic humour here - of course serial numbers are generated sequentially!

Hi, thanks for your quick impressions. Any issues with fit? I have been considering taking the plunge on these (esp. after the price drop), but have read several folks have fit issues and so have been a bit concerned about that.
Thanks
What price drop?

What price drop?
They have been listed at $1699 USD instead of $1999 for a little while now. At least for USD. Not sure how prices differ in other regions.

Just curious, what was your result with the Sony Vs Solaris? I own both and prefer the Sony
Long story short, I ended owning them both but at different times (Solaris then Z1R). The Z1R is superior in every way. It the only hybrid or full BA that doesn’t “sound” like a hybrid or BA. Thoroughly, impressed. I just wish the bass was faster.

By "faster" you mean less bass ?

By faster, I mean quicker attack and shorter decay. It’s one of the reasons I hold on to the i4.
Comes faster and stays present shorter , sounds like less.

Opened up my Z1R packaging box today and noticed the fairly low serial number. Curious to know what number are they up to these days. Has anyone bought a pair recently and are willing to share their serial number? With the amount of positive reviews the Z1R has, I would’ve thought these are selling pretty well for a niche Sony product. I bought mine in Feb 19.

I don’t think it has much to do with quantity. For example, the CA Vega was very “bassy“ but the bass was pretty fast for a DD. The bass had quick attack and quick decay with plenty of quantity. The difference in speed is very noticeable on acoustic tracks in an A/B comparison.
