Well exhibiting at a fair is expensive I think.

I'm not sure if this is Mike, they look very much alike, but someone on this thread mentioned that he was talking to Mike at the convention and if you inspect his name badge on the photo it looks more like Michael Smyth than Stephen I'd say.

And I've been talking to Mike at the High End in 2017 for about an hour and this is how I remember him (but I'm not good at recognising people).
Only thing I remember is that he was a very very nice guy.

My music library almost exclusively consists of downloads and rips to be fed from a laptop running jriver into the A16 via HDMI(I do have a small handful of DVD.iso’s). Likewise, my movies will be decoded by an OPPO 105 and fed via HDMI to the A16(as will the DVD.iso’s). Given my setup, what does that leave for the A16 to do other than plugging what it’s fed into a PRIR and personalized headphone specific file? Also, if the OPPO feeds it data processed from an Auro disc, would the A16(which, otherwise, does not include that format) then play back Auro?

PCM via HDMI allows only 8ch max. So basically no decoded Atmos or Auro with more than 8ch.
I'm not sure what happens when you limit the Auro setup to 8ch. But I think the AV receivers would not output decoded Atmos or Auro in PCM via HDMI regardless of the number of channels. I think you will only get xx ch analog out. But I'm not sure just guessing.

Concerning the Oppo: Does it really decode Auro? With how many channels max?

Via USB you can send 16 channel PCM from a pc/laptop to the A16...
Is there pc software that could do DTS X and/or Auro 3D decoding? Affordable?

And yes, it was Mike Smyth whom I talked with.
Thanks for the confirmation and good to see that he's involved. I've no idea why he's not mentioned in the team on the website.

You can? I thought Windows is max 7.1.

From "additional_KS_info.pdf"
Multi‐channel USB 2.0
A 16 channel in and 2 channel out USB interface is implemented using a PloyTech GmbH Launchpad
chip set. This implementation is limited to a maximum sampling rate of 96kHz and 24‐bit PCM and
follows the multi‐channel audio USB 2.0 standard. See the specification table for more information.
Windows and OS drivers are supplied covering native operational modes as well as ASIO. All USB
PCM clocking is sourced from the A16 internal low jitter oscillator, ie the host computer slaves to the
A16. Hence where the sample rate in the computer matches the sample rate in the A16 the raw PCM
data is losslessly delivered to the A16 processors without intervention from the host operating
system.

No matter how much I like the Realiser A16 now I am more the ever extremely disappointed by the lack of the update, since the AES 2019 show is long gone now. I was hoping they will come with an explanation right after. I think when I will receive my unit I will sell it and buy the TT2.
They don't seem to care about us,the ones who have paid for it already.

I am also disappointed. Maybe Monday?
However, very few and more expensive products are able to render equivalent tonal, spatial and acoustical performance in my little appartment.
There are companies that reinforce their products "value" by frequently launching new versions or using cognitive dissonance strategies in marketing.
I still believe the A16 will be successful for its intrinsic value.

I agree with you, there is no other product that can do exactly what the A16 does that I am aware of at any price point.
Is truly unique.
