Thanks @tbritton and @csglinux for your comments. Now I feel confident that there are plenty of choices for "MMCX" cables and that they can be easyly replaced.
I think I have narrowed it down to either the SE846, the Campfire Audio Andromeda or the Astell & Kern (JH Audio) Roxanne II.
Are we talking about cables or IEMs now? I'm a big fan of Andromeda and Atlas, BTW. And I think that most aftermarket cables are the better choice than the SE846 originals. My pair (empty filter tube, equalized) sounds much better with a cable from ALO Audio, be it the Litz that comes with the Andromeda or the Reference 8 (my preferred combination).

My SE846 hasn't been getting as much loving lately, since the Andromeda and EX1000 have been my new darlings, but I'm sure the SE846 will come back in the rotation.
When I have been listening to them, I've been using the CA / ALO Litz cable, which seems to bring out the treble in the SE846.
@deafmutelame That thread would be a foregone conclusion in favour of the Andromeda. If you can afford the extra outlay and don't need the isolation, then go for the green.
Definitely the 846 is a beast for those genres. I too prefer the andromedas when I still had them both. The andromeda's present treble effortlessly with a bigger soundstage as well. If only I had no fit issues with them I would not have sold them.
Does the Fiio Cable improve the Sound Quality compared to the Stock Cable? Is it a balanced one? I only use a unbalanced one and must say that I trouble a bit with hiss on my Ifi micro BL especially with low Volume settings and in between the Songs. Tried to eliminate it with the Isilencer but there is still no Silent Ground. Using the Oppo Ha2-se with Isilencer is completely Silent

Fiio say "Guaranteed upgrade in details and fidelity" so it must improve the sound.
Yes it is a balanced cable, or at least the 4.4mm version is, my question would be, is the cable micro-phonic and how flexible is it? An inflexible micro-phonic cable gets an instant zero stars from me.
