That shouldn't be there sounds like a capacitor discharging. Could be the element itself that is sort of like a large capacitor. If you bought these used, that may be why they were sold. If not, talk to Shure or do so either way.So turns out I had a bad micro USB cable. Unit is charging very well now that I have a good USB cable. The silicone tips are utterly worthless. The yellow tips are likewise a disgrace. Triple flange muffle the treble and feel like schiit, at least until you cut them off so they don't go so far into one's ear. The foam were good, though my right ear is very delicate, and I find myself needing to soften the "corner" so that it doesn't cut into my ear skin. Still, long term, I will need to figure out a way to get tips that are more comfortable, because this will not work for more than an hour or two. Certainly not for long flights or train rides.
Out of Bimby, the sound is rich, emotive, and tight. The bass has solidity and weight, without booming. I'm very pleased with the purchase. The fact that this sound is this good and this transportable is a revelation to me: K3003i was good, but this is reference on a whole other level.
Any idea why I unexpectedly, every twenty minutes or so, get a super gross 4-5 seconds of distortion that vaguely sounds like a frequency sweep?
I got to hear these again at Axpona. They are still in a league of their own if you value neutrality, resolution and coherency. I used HiDef wav files from my QP1r line out and only needed a moment to know how wright they are.
