RME ADI DAC 2 FS and Meier Corda D‘accord-ff/Meier Corda Classic with my Frankenheiser HD700 (actually not fitting pads superglued to the plastic holder of the originals, whose cushions rotted away.)
The update is in (and already broken in): Hifiman HE-6SE and the necessary powerful amp in form of the Topping A90D. Now I need a new dust cover.
And of course the Cordas will stay and still get their love (which they give back with their wonderfully smooth synergy in combination with the Sennheisers and Focals.)

Does the power of the amplifier have enough Topping A90D for XE-6SE headphones?
Once there was an opportunity to try the Abyss 1266 with Topping A90D. It sounded very bad. There was a lack of power and loss of balance at above average volumes.
Oh yes, the A90D has lots of power. Balanced it has almost 10W per Channel, that is enough/much more than the recommended/asked/demanded 2W for the HE-6SE.

It's not an ideal for the HE6SE V2 but it can probably sound very good. I'm satisifed with mine out of a V280 which has less rated power than the A90D.
Well, I see the same page quoting 9800mW x2, albeit @16Ω. But still more than enough for the 50Ω HE-6SE to make them sing. I like the combo with its very detailed and technical (not analytical in its bad meaning) sound.
Lent my friend the vm1a + sr1b for a couple of days. I get to rotate and enjoy the Abyss and SolP in the meantime. these combos are hard to beat for sheer pleasure and enjoyment.
the evo 400 is the best preamp I've tried so far.. so quiet and so solid in performance with a lovely lush sound. thankfully not really getting the urge to try anything else higher up in the price range.
The Apollon purifi amp seems to have opened up on both ends after a couple of weeks of use. I really don't have any complaints about it, other than that the gloss black finishing is hard to maintain/keep clean. tonnes of clean power, and the adjustable gain and input switch are very useful to have. a nice complement to the tube pre.
meitner dac seems to be getting more usage than the rockna wavedream.. I am enjoying how "controlled" it is. for a dsd upsampling dac, it sure does not sound flat/boring and definitely does not lack in the low end. super fuss free operation, and nice aesthetics too. I have tried it directly into the power amp and the volume control is fab.
switching back and forth between the abyss and solP, I'm glad to have both in the stable. with the components combo, SC cable and AccurateSound filters (neutral, filter1), the Abyss is a great all rounder; everything I play seems to sound amazing. and then on certain genres, I swap to the SolP and the presentation completely changes, sometimes for the better, but never worse.
