Just to clarify my previous post:
Sennheiser website says "The heart of the new HDV 820 is a formidable ESS SABRE32 DAC".
However, SABRE32 family has four different series as follows:

    PRO Series
    ES9038PRO, ES9028PRO, ES9026PRO

    SABRE9018AQ2M, ES9018K2M, ES9018, ES9012, ES9008

    ES9016K2M, ES9016

    ES9010K2M, SABRE9006A, ES9023

Please clarify which chip(s) HDV820 has.
    I hope HDV820 has dual ES9038PRO configuration.

We’ve discussed the open questions with Axel Grell, Manager of Sennheiser’s Audiophile Portfolio, and he will be answering the open questions in detail in the coming weeks. We will have some updates soon!

Why is it so much more expensive in Canada?
When you plug the headphones in does it mute the outputs?

    Still anxiously waiting the updates!!
    Just to clarify my questions:
According to Japanese website “Phil Web”, HDV820 usss ES9018S. Is this different from the old 9018 chip?
Does it have 9018S in single or dual configuration?

I'm mostly curious about the output power to the headphones.

The previous model - HDVD 800 - had a 24/192 Burr-Brown DAC built in and a symmetrical signal processing from input to output for both digital and analog Inputs.
