Well if you intend on keeping them then why not lol . But there goes your resale value and warranty .
But the significant characteristic I could not directly put into words are : consider the difference between a closed IEM and an open headphone...
Here you go.
Tool used to punch the hole :
The smallest one is enough to induce a hole just by adding some force. Ofcourse mine looks like crap without any proper alignment planned ahead, so you may try to not overlook this prep if you dont want yours to look as crap as mine
Steps Done :
1. Remove Screw
2. Remoe back plate
3. "Drill" the holes
4. Assemble back
^ to the guy with TIP issues, have you tried Superlux tips? they are free with any superlux 381F/386/etc iems. for the price you get a very good backup IEM and good tips that fit unlike all i've tried. The Largest one doesnt only provide good seal but the best soundstage. Why? Its because its so big it is literally outside your earhole but it seals easily despite it.
I understand that foam-based tips' isolation are best but they attenuate highs. I have also noticed that tips with small nozzle also attenuate treble (i.e. Sony Hybrids)
Don't know if anybody has mentioned these, but I use Sony EP-EX1 tips, they fit perfectly and they have a wider opening than Sony Hybrids. If you have a Sony factory Outlet store near you, you can always find Sony Hybrids or the above mentioned tips for $.99 or less.
I havent, no. But due to your recommendation, I looked around to see if I could find some a bit and wasn't particularly successful. I'll keep an eye out-- thanks for the tip (ha!!)
I'm currently using the Auvio tips at burtonmr's recommendation, and they certainly are vastly easier to use when you have to pull your IEMs out periodically. They don't isolate anywhere near as well as the Comply, but they do seem a bit brighter. Very comfortable to wear.
I ended up taking the tape off... It didn't just reduce the bass, it damn near eradicated it, which is not what I wanted either . I might turn up the bass control a bit and try to tape them again-- anyone had success with this?
