I use a Glenn OTL with the HD700s and I am a tube addict. lol

Rolling an 1815 rectifier, a B36 driver and quad of 6BX7 and it sounds great! :)

Hello my name is gibosi and I'm a tube addict (group says Hello gibosi). That looks great but I'm looking for a amp that can run my Planars also. Still looks quite nice as does the Felix just wanting something that can run all my cans for now but that has me wondering .

ahaha... Yes, with well over 1000 tubes, and more on their way to me at this moment, I think I am beyond help. lol :)

Well, some planars are very difficult to drive while others are pretty easy. So if you want to run a pair of HiFiMan HE-6, some find a Glenn OTL to be acceptable, but for others it is borderline. It just can't push enough current into them to keep them really happy. On the other hand, a good OTL can drive the Fostex TH-X00 very well. I know one guy who prefers his Glenn OTL over his Ragnarok with the TH-X00. So again, it all depends...

Finally got my HD700 after a 2 weeks wait. Time for burn in and I have a feeling I will be getting an aftermarket cable though

I'd be curious to get a good <$100 cable myself.

EDIT: btw they're down to $419 on Amazon. This is CRAZY.

I went for Toxic Cable Silver Poison in the end which is definitely out of your budget. The only good yet <$100 cable that I had found was this :

Though they only allow 20 back orders until they let others place their order.

Hmmm... wouldn't silver brighten the sound though? I'd imagine you'd want copper to tame the highs a little.

That price range isn't hard and fast, just an "if possible it'd be nice" kind of thing.

I thought so too but after reading a few reviews I decided to go for their silver cable instead. Reason being that even though it is a silver cable, there's a hint of warm with improve bass with it. Here's the review quoted from hardwarezone :

Most audiophiles know how the typical pure silver cables sound; excellent clarity, good treble with a cold analytical signature. I expected Silver Poison to sound the same. Imagine my surprise after I put the W4R into my ears.

It has the same excellent clarity that I expected. But what I didn't expect is the slightly warm signature and punchy bass. Must be the gold at work.

Bass is punchy with good impact. Mids is slightly forward, with a tinge sweetness. Treble is well extended and not sibilant.

Clarity is excellent despite the slight warmth. Staging and imaging is also very good.
The cable sounds very good on W4R, compensating very well for its slightly soft treble.

Part of the reason was also me wanting to try something new since all of the custom cables/cable mods that I own are all copper cables.

These HD700 definitely need to burn in. Its was meh at first listen. After a week of non-stop chesky pink noise it open up, output is captivating now, very easy listening through mimby.

Found this listing for Sentey headphone cases on the Deals thread:

And there is some discussion regarding the GS-1401 and GS-1402 cases.

For the price either of these could be a great buy, but does anyone know if the HD700 will fit?

Looks nice, but I really need a shorter one. I wish they had a coiled cable like the DT990s or something. :/

Also, the HD700 makes a nice controller caddy.

I have been using the non sleeved version of this cable for the past 2 years, without any issues.

It's great for portable use and gaming on my PS4 connected to DS4
