It might be because of head shape, but the HD 700 absolutely do not squeeze my head at all, and I find them just as comfortable as my HD 800S and HD 8XX.

Can't speak for the HD800, but owning a pair of HD700, I thought the same.... until I moved to the HD800S. Now putting on the HD700 phones feels like my heard is being squeezed compared to the HD800S. Also, oddly, they feel heavier on my head compared to the HD800S.

If you're referring to my post > here, did you actually read it? Understand what's being said?
I didn’t quote your post in my initial post so I was just speaking for myself, but yes, I did read it and it does come across to me as saying that the HD 800S is more comfortable to you than the HD 700, and that the HD 700 makes your head feel like it’s being squeezed in comparison.

I’ll let you and other readers decide if I understood it. 🤗

If you read it you would see I said "compared to the 800S".

And for clarity, I've said many a time how comfortable the HD700 phones are. But comparing to the HD800S, yeah, that's how they feel to me now. YMMV 😀

I have and continue to use the HD700 more than any other HP I own. The second most would be the Bose sport wired and wireless that I use for exercise. Sometimes what is practical becomes the most used. I am not walking around with my Stax 700 MK2 or Audeze CRBN on a daily basis. Will use the HD 700 until it dies and than find another. Disclaimer, I use it for TV and games.

I still have my HD700 as well. In fact, my avatar is of the HD700. That said, I recently bought the HD800S to replace the aging HD700 since 2016.

LOL same here... Although I don't plan on getting rid of the HD700 anytime soon. They are different enough that there isn't a reason they can't compliment each other. :)

AND....
Sorry for the poor quality of the picture but this was from my phone and the lighting is terrible in this room of my house.

Mine after refurbing with new headband cushion, ear pads and a $370 dollar cable.

Now, I'm converting the cable to fit my HD800S, and relegating the HD700 to occasional use on my backup DAC. They were good while used, but when I bought the HD800S, that was their retirement call. As I said, they've been in use since 2016, so...

I won't be selling them, but they won't be primary. For me, the HD800S just out does them in all areas. And I never take them outside, so for portables, that'll be my Bose NC 700 phones there.

Sounds like they have had a good life?! :) Mine have been in active rotation since 2012.

This is how I feel as well, except one area that I have found the HD700 are just top notch, and that is very low-level listening. They retain all of their sound better than any other set I have heard thus far (including the HD800S, though they come the closest IMHO).

They had a great life, and I wouldn't have dropped $480 on them for a refurb job if they sucked :relaxed:

I have zero issues with sound quality at low levels with the HD800S under my Denafrips Artemis (Class A, low noise) headphone amp

Yeah, I picked mine up for $750, right when they dropped from the OG $900 price-tag. I don't regret paying that much, I only hate how Sennheiser devalued them over the years; though it is positively great for those that couldn't/wouldn't pay higher prices for them.

Nor do I. It is the ONLY thing that I have found the HD700 to do better. Everything else belongs handily (IMHO) to the HD800S.
