40 euro for the k280 is a good deal. I've been looking for one too

oh yes it is, especially considering the good condition they're in. one akg logo sticker is missing and they smell a bit like cigarette smoke, but everything else looks good as new.
good luck in finding a similar deal, i for sure won't be giving mine away

K250 (1982) - those got me started. i was truly impressed by how some headphones almost as old as me could sound so much better than all my previous 'phones/earbuds/earplugs. i even got the original receipt from akg for those (999,- austrian schillings) :) however, they led me to..

The K 250 are the best vintage AKGs I've heard. Their bright sound isn't for everyone, but for whoever can stomach the excess treble they're a treat.

Is it basically a closed back k240?

The K 250 cup is about as open as the K 240 one. The frequency response is identical to the K 241 except the K 250 don't have a midbass hump. You'll find differences in soundstaging as well, the K 250 are more upfront.

Sounds like I need to add the K250 to my list! Although they must be quite rare; I've seen just about every pair of AKGs to be listed on eBay over the past 6 months and I haven't seen a one. This saddens me.

Oooh really? Sounds like my kinda headphone. Would pair nicely with my K241.

maybe you have more luck searching for radio shack realistic pro 50. these are k250s with a different name tag, produced by akg for radio shack.

btw: added a k501 (and a senn hd595) to my collection. another 40€ well spent (plus 35€ for the senns)

The Realistic Pro 50 are not the K 250. Rather, they're a K 240 Sextett in a K 250-like cup.

Either way, I'll be on the lookout for some Pro 50's. If they are just the K240 Sextett in a K250 cup, I'd imagine the different cup shape/size would make some kind of a difference in sound signature. Thanks for the tip!

K250's are a bit of a pain to find. Took ages to find mine.

Easiest way I found to get rid of the smell of smoke is to (after having cleaned them offcourse) just lay your headphones in the sun as often as possible. Not to a degree where they would melt, but it gets rid of the smell pretty fast.

@ampair
35 for a pair of 595, thats one heck of a deal..

Anyone knows where I can get some original pads for k340? Can't find anything on eBay.

I ordered K240 pads from here a while back for a couple vintage pairs ( K240 Sextett and K240 Monitor ). Also some of the inner earside foam discs with the fabric covering for the older K240 Monitor, so am back to stock again. Not quite labeled as foam but it is these.

A real pain to find this stuff.

I have 4 extra sets of pads for my K240 Sextett/K340 (recently sold) lol

They still have the barcode from like 1980 when they were purchased
