I snagged a pair of K240 sextett LP's from my pal. They are in awesome condition with new pads etc. I play them off of my laptop --> HifimeDIY dac --> E12, and I just love their sound - balanced yet fun and engaging with awesome mids. Very low distortion when cranked up, and very non-fatiguing. Call me a huge fan :)

Just got 1 cans here, tested the HD600, DT880 and Q701 and went for Q701 in the end. Am I in?

Having owned the K550 which I loved (but sold due to financial reasons) and now owning a Q701 (they are white and I don't even care!) I am firmly in the AKG camp. Not sure I will be buying the K7/812 any time soon as my banker would kill me. But I do really enjoy the AKG sound.

Spent quite a big chunk of the weekend nursing the K250 back to good health.
It was in pretty bad shape but I felt that I needed to save this fairly uncommon headphone.
Sonically very similar to the K241 - they have almost identical baffles and very similar drivers.

A nice collection, only vital model missing is the father of them all - the K140. And then the K240 Sextet, K260, K280, K290, K340... well, it's quite feasable snatching them up in Germany.

Actually I've got a seriously beaten up K140W (the 'w' stands for 'wireless') in the cellar - bought it for almost nothing in a flea market, as it came without the infra-red transmitter.
On top of that one driver was blown and it looks like it's had a rough life, so it's just waiting to be scrapped for parts *sob*.

I'm guessing it has identical drivers to the regular K140, which is what keeps putting me off buying one, as they're just not as good as the later versions.

Anyone knows if the K240 MK2 and new K141 (same as K242HD) use the same drivers?

I find the sound of the K141 very decent. It doesn't sound weak in any area, a very good all around headphone with a slightly rolled off treble.

Checking in with the K612 Pro I just got today and the K240 MKII.

@Headzone: I don't think they use exactly the same, they probably just differently tuned versions of the same drivers due to some differences in their specs. I haven't heard the K141 so I can't comment on how they sound compared to the K240 MKII.

According to service manuals, the K 240 II and the K 141 II use the same driver.

The original '70s K 240 and K 141 used the same driver between each other as well, so no change there.
