Well, pricing isn’t as great with the other totl cables either, but you’re right, it is too high.
What exactly do you mean with „hardware“?
It’s just that I know you don’t like exaggerated higher mids and review comparisons indicate that the Iliad might be just a tad harsher on that frequency range in contrast to the code51, that is said to manage the higher mids/treble a bit better.
The Iliad I feel has a small upper treble boost, which I personally quite like - I didn’t find it to bring the upper midrange more forward or anything of the sort though
I really, really dislike the EA carbon fiber plugs. They feel really plasticky and cheap, and are generally a visual mismatch to the otherwise great split designs that they have
On pricing, most TOTLs are very expensive, but the Code 51 is some 33% more expensive than the Iliad while not really offering anything better in terms of build but featuring the carbon fiber plugs and standard EA pins :/

I get it. The carbon fiber plugs are from Oyaide and top quality (like the fiber plugs from Furutech) BUT I also dislike how they look.
Good to hear you find that it hasn’t a upper mids but an upper treble boost that might also suit my Stellia very well. Maybe it’s time to talk to Eric again when they are ready with their headphone cables

It’s definitely worth noting that my stance on cables has been “jewelry first sound second” so I end up with little love for stuff like the 1950s or 1960s etc

My stance is more "Will I get robbed at gunpoint if I walked around a non affluent, area" so the Century and Monile lines are perfect for me.
The only cable that gives jewellery and SQ first for me has been the Leonidas II. The only other cable I've gotten more than once other than the 1960s.
I hear it also photographs better than it actually looks.
Illiad for it's price and looks, I would actually consider getting if I had something to pair it with.

Leo II along with the bespoke Leo Cleo remain my favourite EA cables, awesome stuff
I owned the horus briefly a few months ago but was left very disappointed by the feel of the wire and hardware. It certainly looks way better in photos :/
Yup! The best pairing I’ve heard for the Iliad is definitely the Elysium, but I just don’t use my Ely enough nowadays to really justify keeping the Iliad occupied with it kinda goes to the IEM i spend most time with and I’m lucky that the A18S plays better with the Plato

I own both cables and in my humble opinion, I think that the Iliad should be the more expensive cable. It’s build quality, softness, design and even packaging/accessories all feel much more premium than Code51.
Want to share some interesting new products, especially for those who are considering purchasing a small dongle like the Lotoo PAW S1.
Luxury & Precision (LP) is launching its Portable USB DAC/AMP W1 and W2; W1 has 1 DAC chip and W2 has 2. For some of you who may be hearing this brand for the first time, LP made their name by producing high-end R2R DAP P6.
Both devices come in two outputs: 3.5mm and 4.4mm. The 3.5mm output is also a SPDIF output, allowing it to be used purely as a DAC and connect with other AMPs.
What is insane about these two products is the crazily low noise levels and huge output power. I cannot post the link to the other forum, but if you are interested just google the product names and you will see the measurements. Long story short, based purely on the measurements, it outperforms many desktop devices... Of course, we will need to wait for the actual products to tell whether it sounds good or not.
Some data for its power level (the third party measured numbers rather than OEM-supplied numbers):
Balanced:
32Ω 235mw
Single-ended:
32Ω: 125mw
W1 retails for 1180 RMB (180 USD); W2 retails for 1880 RMB (280 USD). Shipping of W1 is starting in a couple of days in mainland China. Shipping of W2 will start very soon. Their advertisements suggest that the prices already include two cables in the box: one USB C-to-C and one USB C-to-lightening.

Do they pick up interference if using from a phone? Seems like most if not all of these little usb dac/amps that are powered from the phone pick up quite a bit of interference. At least the few I ha e tried.

There has not been any report on this issue so far, but again very few people had been able to use it and only for a very short period of time. I will keep you posted after it officially launches and we can see how people react.
