Don't forget the Ibasso DX300, yet to see the specs on it though.I expect there to be differences in SQ for sure. I mean the $1100 difference in price is now basically down to SQ, all else being more or less equal.
For me the tonality will be most important; will they keep it slightly fuller and warmer like the current R6 Pro, or go a touch cooler and airier like the R8.
Also, since this will be the fastest and most up-to-date DAP on the market (along with the R8) it'll be interesting to see if it can challenge the likes of the Cayin N6ii and FiiO M15 in the ~$1200 price bracket.
Btw, I do find the R8 warm neutral on its own, and even Alex pointed it out in the review. It's very clear when I use the BX2 Plus from the Bal out then the sound becomes quite wide, airy and very transparent.
