I hear people say that, but I can't see why. I think it does a good job at keeping my music organized.

IMHO, iTunes is a resource hog, it cannot universally sync all devices (i.e. phones, non-Apple players), it's Apple (this is a subjective argument, but I hate Apple), no plug-in support, limited EQ and sound-scaping, and I just don't care for the UI.

That being said, if you like a closed system and it works well for you, enjoy.

All very understandable objections, I've just never seen them listed up like that before.
It is a resource hog, that is true. Watching how CPU use jump at a track change is pretty funny. The rest seems rather subjective, though perfectly understandable.

MediaMonkey is an incredible piece of software! At one point it just decided to stop working... It would take ages to boot (much like FireFox). iTunes is the worst windows program I've ever used. On first launch it displayed 100% usage of my processor on task manager. After I killed it it my processor still had 100% utilization. I had to reboot... Terrible program.

Ya, I pretty much only use iTunes to organize my iPod. I use Foobar to listen to songs though, since iTunes is a big resource hog.

Well I don't really need to access iTunes on that iPod Mini, but it's a nice little player and I would like to play my FLAC files on it...
