Shop suggested to me by BMF: Hang-em High Online Store

Um, uh... Do you still have the schematics? I'm just the bottle washer, not the cook.

Yeah, it is one of my favorites too. Of course, the way this thread is looking, I am almost starting to expect the Spanish Inquisition. YouTube - The Spanish Inquisition

Of course I have the schematic, and actually, it does look like it would be possible to mod it to do a reasonable job driving the Stax. Add a bias supply, mess with the feedback loop some, couple other things. I cant actually tell what the rail voltages are though, but they look to be pretty high.

After you finish your other projects, let's look at improving the design a bit, with modern transistors, but not muck up the sound signature too much if can help it. You can walk me through measuring voltages in it when we're too that point. Everything is pretty easy to get too.

I know, it's just that some people might find a photo or diagram helpful. After all, there are three connections for the jack but four terminals on the amp (find the missing connection and win a prize, bla bla bla).

Just a thought.

Oh! almost forgot-- is anyone likely to, like, buy or at least borrow one of the newer Fostex T20RP Mk IIs to see if they've changed too?

Ok, ok.

Standard Stax color scheme,

Red, black = right
White, green = left

Black, green to the ground pin (middle tab)

Do you have any trouble with residual hum/hiss using this direct-drive method?

Nope, no hum or hiss just lots of meaty power. The phones seem to appreciate the headroom.

Which one? The few that were for sale this year were either sold outside of auction or went for much higher amounts.

When a YH-2 or an HP-2 gets listed with a starting price around 70 euros (both are currently on that auction site), I expect a YH-1000 to get 5-10 times that, especially given its rarity.
